One of the cheapest ways to rack up Hyatt stays is to visit the cheaper Vegas Mlife properties. Of course stays will become irrelevant under the new World of Hyatt program, but for this year they are still relevant and December is a great time to get them. Because outside the week of New Year’s, it is one of the slowest times in Vegas and thus midweek prices are rock bottom. Thankfully I ended up being only one Hyatt stay short of Diamond status this year. To remedy that I recently booked a room at the Excalibur by logging into my Mlife account.
The rate was $20 per night and of course there is that pesky resort fee. Still, with all taxes and fees the total for one night was only $55. Cheaper than pretty much any Hyatt. If you have Hyatt Diamond status then you should have Mlife elite status as well. At the Excalibur make sure to check-in at the Mlife elite desk to the far right of the registration area. It seems isolated and sort of in the corner, but they will take good care of you. Just like during my two stays last year, I was given a room in the “upgraded” Resort Tower. Now people like to make fun of the Excalibur and call it a dump, but the truth is the Resort Tower isn’t bad. Absolutely not, but the rooms have been renovated, they have flat screen televisions and the bathrooms are decently appointed. For $55 per night, you really can’t expect anything more than that. I hear the other tower is a different story though, so your mileage may vary. In case you don’t really want to sleep at the Excalibur because for example you live in Las Vegas and like your own bed better, then don’t worry.
