The abandoned child, who had not yet turned one, was discovered in a deserted play area by a dog walker at 7am the next morning, a court heard. Police tracked down mother Julie Gill, 43, and found she had been out on a drinking spree with a friend, and had brought her daughter in the pushchair. After touring around bars in Blackpool, the two women parted ways. But Gill returned home without the child. Gill pleaded guilty to child neglect and ill treatment when she appeared before Blackpool Magistrates’ Court. Prosecutor Pam Smith told the hearing: ‘Gill took the baby out with her when she and a companion toured various bars.

Both routes are accessible, and take in the famous views of the Blackpool promenade. Both the short and long route start and finish at Tower Headland beneath Blackpool Tower. The event site is on hard ground and both routes are fully wheelchair and pushchair accessible. The short and long routes walk together, with the shorter route turning around by Manchester Square tram stop. The longer route continues down the Promenade to the Mirror Ball, before returning to the event site.
