Forgot your username or email?Chairs have evolved tremendously for thousands of years, as they shifted from being a symbol of state and dignity, to an item of ordinary use. Chair design considers intended usage, (how comfortable it is for the occupant), as well as non-ergonomic functional requirements such as size, stackability, foldability, weight, durability, stain resistance and artistic design. In this article, we’ll leave their function aside and take a look at chairs purely from an artistic point of view. Here are 50 examples of great chair design, from the sleekest you’ll ever see, to the funkiest and the just plain weird. What do you think of these chair designs?  Which ones are your favorites? This Awesome Outdoor Rug Using masking tape and spray paint, you can update any old rug to go outdoors. Update your current set of dining room chairs or refurbish a thrift store find by designing a DIY funky chair with fabric and paint. To start designing your funky chair, all you need is satin paint, one yard of floral or printed fabric, one yard of white cotton fabric, polycrylic glue, a staple gun, screw driver, paint brush, and a metallic paint pen. Whether you are interested in restyling a set of chairs for a new dining space or a single chair for your hallway, crafting a funky chair with a mixture of painted patterns and fabric textures is a fun way to explore your creative side. Video Credit: "Mark Montano" Start by drawing a 3/4-inch by 3/4-inch grid on a piece of white cotton fabric.

To ensure your grid is accurate, use a ruler to measure. Paint a colorful checkerboard pattern on the cotton fabric, within your grid squares, with a paintbrush. Try a stylish black checkered pattern or go for colorful paint. Remove the seat cushion from the chair using a screwdriver. Draw lines along the top horizontal rail of the chair with a ruler, then draw a diamond pattern along the sides and vertical rails. Paint the chair in the same checkerboard pattern colors you used on the fabric. If you want to mix and match, try a variety of colors. Continue to paint the bottom rails of the chair in a similar design as the top. Feel free to try a combination of patterns, such as polka dots, stripes, and more. Measure the shape and size of the chair rails by outlining it with paper. Once outlined, cut out the shapes with scissors. Use the paper outlines to measure and cut floral or printed fabric of the same size. Apply each fabric piece directly on to the matching chair panel with polycrylic glue.
