With its perennial good looks and dirt cheap prices, it's hard to imagine our world, much less our homes, without IKEA.While you may see yourself shopping those maze-like, Swedish-meatball-scented halls forever and ever, a new study by web-based lender Earnest says you may be too old for it. Looking at the spending habits of 43,000 people, the company found the age that, yes, you become too old to shop at IKEA, reports Brit + Co. Turns out your buying habits at IKEA start to drop off around age 34. But the Swedish retailer remains a go-to for twenty-somethings and those in their early 30s, with 24 being the age you're most likely to shop at IKEA.In addition, the company was able to tabulate "peak customer ages" for each of the 14 top furniture retailers. As Earnest puts it, they've basically mapped out your entire home decor future. As people hit their 30s, they begin to rely less on inexpensive furniture brands, moving more toward high-end mainstays, like West Elm and CB2. That is until an interest in home improvement and DIY peaks in your 40s and up, with a rise in popularity for brands like Lowe's and Home Depot.When you think about it, there is some reasoning, IKEA shoppers.
