We are not used to this, in USA we drive to beach with our own chairs, etc. and don't know how this works. 2 destinations mentioned in this post hi, generally you rent an umbrella with a sunbed from around 6-8euros for both for the day (or part day, the price doesn't change depending on the time when you arrive). There are areas of the beach set aside for people who prefer to take their own chairs etc and some harder to get to beaches will not have beds for rent but all of the bigger ones do. Re toilets - all main beaches will have free public toilets - certainly on Rhodes they do It works by you sitting on an empty sunbed and then the guy who runs that pitch will come over and charge you whatever the going rate is, typically around €8 for two plus umbrella, he'll give you a receipt and the beds are then yours for however long you choose to stay. I came back from Rhodes on Saturday, and the charge was €8 for 2 beds and an umberella.
