Wall hung toilets may have the tank concealed inside the wall, which can further impact height. If you're installing a wall hung toilet in your bathroom, you will encounter a challenge that floor-mounted toilets do not have: what height to hang the toilet. Just like floor-mounted toilets can have variations in height, a wall hung toilet also has some flexibility in the height it can be hung. Every bathroom and user is different, so you will need to take some measurements and other factors into consideration when making your final decision. Determine what type of wall-hung toilet you have. Some have a tank that couples to the bowl like a floor-mounted toilet. Others have a tank that is installed inside the wall. If your tank is installed inside the wall, you may be constrained by the wall's interior. Determine whether you want a standard toilet height, or a "comfort" or "universal" height. Standard toilet heights measure 14 1/2 inches from the floor to the bowl's rim, not including the seat.

Comfort height toilets measure at least 16 inches from the floor to the bowl's rim and may measure higher. The recommended height for a universal height toilet including the seat is 17 to 19 inches from floor to seat. Measure the toilet seat thickness. If you choose to use a universal height for the toilet's height, add the thickness of the seat to the height off the floor to get the desired height. Check the manufacturer's instructions for what height the carrier must sit inside the wall and how far off the carrier and bowl the tank must sit if it is concealed. Inspect the interior of the wall to ensure you have studs placed at the right heights to accommodate the carrier and tank at the desired height. Make adjustments to your desired height as necessary to install the toilet. The act, signed into law in 1990, intends to allow people living with disabilities to access facilities and services as seamlessly and equally as possible. Central to toilet accessibility are height requirements so the facilities remain accessible to people in wheelchairs or with other mobility-based disabilities. Toilet HeightADA-accessible toilets must be between 17 and 19 inches from the floor to the top of the toilet seat, allowing for an easier transition from wheelchairs. ADA-accessible toilets primarily used by children below the age of 12 must be between 11 and 17 inches from the floor to the top of the toilet seat. Urinal HeightMen's room urinals must have rims no higher than 17 inches from the floor for ease in use by wheelchair users or others with mobility-based disabilities. Rims higher than 17 inches make access difficult or impossible for those positioned lower to the ground than people who are able to walk. Toilet Paper DispensersToilet paper dispensers must be mounted at least 36 inches from the back wall and at least 19 inches from the floor to remain reachable to those with disabilities.

The dispensers should not obstruct grab bars or other toilet-mounting aids. Toilet ControlsToilet flush controls should be near the toilet, free of obstructions and should operate with a closed fist, minimal gripping or through automatic flushing sensors. Grab BarsGrab bars to aid in transferring from wheelchairs or upon which to lean when attempting to sit on toilets must be 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches in diameter to provide sufficient gripping surface. The ADA requires such bars be mounted at least 1 1/2 inches from all walls to provide clearance for fingers to grip completely around the bars.Squatty Potty® Ecco Toilet Stool Squatty Potty Ecco Toilet Stool is doctor-recommended and helps ease toilet related ailments Helps promote better health, greater comfort, and more energy Easy to use and highly effective in positioning the colon for effortless bowel movements Stores under your toilet when not in use; doesn't take up extra space Provides relief from constipation and bloating, hemorrhoids and straining, IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), and pelvic floor and bladder issues
