The problem I suspect is that they are made of nylon, which is designed to be softer than plastic. I tried them on two chairs and don't like the way they glide on our hardwood floor OR a stiff rug we have in our family room. Sliders for chair bottoms modify chair legs to minimize the friction that causes floor scratches or carpet wear. You can make your own custom sliders for use on wood, tile or carpet, using felt with an adhesive backing, or leather. The sliders protect floors from damage and minimize noise as chairs are moved. Sliders also facilitate moving furniture within a space without damaging floors.
Turn the chair for the project upside-down and pry off any metal or plastic glides, using a chisel or a flat-head screwdriver. Clean the surface of the chair leg bottom with a multipurpose household cleaner and degreaser. Place a piece of paper under one of the chair legs and trace the shape of the bottom with a pencil to form a pattern. Record on the pattern which leg you traced; for example, :right, front." Repeat for each leg. All four legs often are exactly alike, but sometimes, there are slight variations in the shape of the leg bottom. Check each one to achieve a perfect fit. Trace the pattern shapes onto either adhesive-backed industrial felt or scrap leather. Cut out the traced shapes to prepare the chair bottom pads for gluing.
