In October 2014, two new chair models have been added to Ad-Lib: Scholar and Work Lounge. Scholar provides a clever solution to the changing needs of the education and training sectors. Innovation, ergonomics and user insights come together to create a chair which not only looks stylish, but is very pragmatic too. Ad-Lib Scholar features an innovative orbital fold down work surface to offer the optional use of a tablet, laptop or notepads. A sophisticated knuckle allows the surface to swivel upwards quickly and smoothly from the vertical ‘parked’ position, to sit either to the side or in front of the chair.
It can also be moved to accommodate a right or left handed user, and has integrated under seat storage and cup holder. The new Ad-Lib Work Lounge has been developed in response to collaboration being the key to business success providing a relaxed comfortable seating environment and comes with optional rotational foldaway table. The Ad-Lib stacking chair with sled base features a polished chrome frame that is available with optional linking devices, seat and row numbering. Ad-Lib 4 and 5-star base versions feature height adjustment as standard. To respond to the need to provided dimensional flexibility and comfort in conference, meeting and light work scenarios the the option of a newly developed mechanism that incorporates both height adjustment and a floating seat mechanism that supports the user irrespective of weight or size is available. The program includes three leg types that are developed using predominantly aluminium components; 4-star, I leg and J leg. Great care and attention has been given to the development of the highly tooled elements of the system and their slender proportions and fantastic aesthetic belie the fundamental strength and rigidity they deliver. With these parts we have developed a holistic table solution that transcends from a small round coffee table through to the possibility of creating an infinite length boardroom table. In addition the deliberately neutral styling means that Ad-lib tables can be suited successfully with any of our seating ranges. Luke Pearson and Tom Lloyd who first met while studying Furniture Design and Industrial Design respectively, at London's prestigious Royal College of Art, didn't form their multi award winning product and furniture design consultancy, until 1997, having first spent a number of years working independently of each other for other highly acclaimed design studios.
