Leaded and painted glass A set of photographs showing the design and construction process for a leaded and painted glass cabinet door panel depicting three goldfish. At top left is the pencil design for the panel, with one of the red glass fish laid out and painted. At top right, the painted glass panels are transferred to a kiln, where the painted design is permanently incorporated into the glass (the design will not craze or rub off with age or wear). Above the painted glass fish have lead worked around them. The lead is shaped and pinned in position on a backing board, so the surrounding glass panel elements can be cut and inserted into the design. Below, the panel is shown completed, laid out on newspaper.
