Taking Mike's requests on board, Melissa and Dion set out to create a friendly and functional space with a nautical theme. Since the kitchen space is rather small, Melissa opted to create long spaces to give the illusion of depth and length. Taking away the cabinets opened the space up just that little much more. To allow for space to cook and dine, Dion decided to build booth seating, which also helped to create a space within a space. To go with the earthy nautical theme, Melissa chose faux wooden flooring - a great choice for anyone renovating on a budget. Dion's Project: How to make a corner bench seat Building a corner bench seat is perfect for when you have a small space and a corner wall to work with. This is a simple cost effective project which is an excellent seating solution for small rooms. Think about the size of your room - design to suit your space
