Great Price, Very Useful. The closed height is 36.5 inches, and since I am 5'10", it is a little short of the 38 inches I prefer in a cane, and at 3 pounds, it is a little heavy for a cane. The height is not adjustable, and since the weight of the chair is balanced directly below the handle, the design of the handle would be difficult for the manufacturer to modify in a future model.
It would need two adjustable sections, one on the bent section, and one on the handle itself. These adjustable sections would only add to the overall weight for very little benefit. I just make the best of it the way it is. The plastic footpads are showing signs of wear, so I may get some rubber cane pads from the hardware store to glue on over them. This would also help to increase the cane height a little. Since I only use the cane to steady myself while walking, and I don't often lean on the handle, the rubber handle is fine. If someone wants to use it to lean on, something as simple as a folded washcloth could be wrapped around the handle and held in place with rubber bands or rubber cement, and be easily removed for washing. A black washcloth would not show dirt and could be glued on for good with silicone glue. A piece of foam rubber pipe insulation could be used instead of a washcloth, but it would fray easily from use. Perhaps some black silicone/rubber glue from an auto parts store could be used to coat the foam rubber and prevent wear.
Even a padded bicycle handlebar grip could be used instead. They are sold in pairs, so you would have a spare grip for future use if needed. The sack style seat has two knobs in back where your hips will be, so you have to scoot forward a bit. I wish the tops of the legs had been rounded or sloped a bit to prevent them from digging into the user's hips. Not made for anyone with a large rear end, but ok for everyone else. A large sculpted and folding flat seat would be a nice idea for future upgrades, as this one can become uncomfortable after 5 or 10 minutes. Emergency use only, not for watching a parade. It is compact enough to be taken into a crowded store or a tour bus (put it next to you). It is rated for 250 pounds, but the steel legs seem quite sturdy, as they handle my 280 pounds without any sign of strain, aided by the sturdy ring holding the legs together. (Folding aluminum deck chairs collapse on me in no time). I also use a rubber band on the bottom of the legs to prevent the folded stool from making a clanking noise while I am walking, and I use another rubber band to aid the Velcro strap in keeping the seat material folded instead of flapping around in the breeze.
CAUTION: This three legged stool is designed to be straddled like a bicycle seat, with your hands resting on the handle.
