We've been offered 10 folding dining units from a school in London which will be ideal for our partnership work in South Africa. However, moving these from London to Glasgow is proving tricky! Does anyone out there have logistical capacity to collect from London and deliver to Glasgow for a small or FOC rate? You'd be assisting a community development initiative in South Africa which support marginalised children in deprived communities. Here is our bank at Fernhill Cathkin Parish Church. One of the busiest banks in Glasgow. Banks are free, regularly maintained and integral to your community helping people directly, in a non-cash based way! Here's a snapshot of 24hrs: Down at The Common, our projects hub in Govan, we hosted a community cycling event in our indoor events space in partnership with Southwest Community Cycle. In our workshops, the Glasgow Shabby Chic trainees were upcycling a table & chairs as part of their woodcraft course. nally, our volunteers were uploading and preparing clothes for sorting for our refugee projects. Over at City Furnishings, Ian and the team were preparing electrical machinery for recycling and presentation for resale. They've been out since before dawn at house clearances and ensuring we reclaim and reuse as much household furniture & white goods as we can. Across the city, we have a network of textile recycling points. Each point is inspected routinely and today, despite the cold & snow, the team were out collecting, cleaning and inspecting the banks to ensure all donations reach is in a dry, safe and secure fashion. All 77 collection points must be maintained to the highest standard both day & night. Through in Edinburgh, our CEO has been preparing documentation and a presentation for a parliamentary subcommittee on community food sharing, utilising Scotland's network of greengrocers and independent shops as a mechanism for sustaining food supplies for the most vulnerable. Lastly, and by no means least, our international team are working on aid shipments and supplies for Serbia, Iraq and South Africa. Ou
