Olympia Box Office Information You can find full info here on our special needs facilities.A man who was shot twice in the head is likely to be confined to a wheelchair if he survives, it has been claimed. The 38-year-old was blasted as he got into his car at Dun Emer Place, Lusk, in North County Dublin, on Tuesday morning. He is still clinging to life in Beaumont Hospital following the assassination attempt shortly before 10am. Medical workers put the victim into an induced coma after he was rushed by ambulance for emergency treatment. A source said: “If he survives he will probably be in a vegetative state or in a wheelchair.” It’s understood gardai are still trying to establish the circumstances surrounding the daylight attack and have not made any arrests yet. Investigators are probing if the man was shot simply because of suspected links to an INLA bomber who is chief suspect in the murder of Gareth Hutch in May. But a source told the Irish Mirror yesterday: “Gardai are keeping a complete open mind about this attack. “

Links to the Hutches and Kinahans is just speculation at this point. “He was not under threat before he was shot and had been keeping a low profile over the last few months.” A Volkswagen Golf was spotted leaving the scene on Tuesday morning and was discovered burnt out at Kilhedge Lane in Lusk a short time later. The driver-side window of a white Volkswagen Passat at the scene was smashed, with glass on the road. There were also blood-soaked towels and a pair of jeans lying beside the car along with bullet casings. The victim is known to gardai. Gardai have appealed for anyone with information to contact them on 01 8020510. Mary McAleese looks at what it is like to be wheelchair bound in the city of Dublin. In 1979 Mary McAleese joined RTÉ Television as a presenter on the 'Today Tonight' programme. The following year she reported on being disabled in Dublin, at the time one of the most inaccessible cities for people in wheelchairs. In this report Mary journeys around Dublin in a wheelchair and can be seen at landmark locations on O'Connell Street such as the Savoy cinema, as well as at public bulidings such as the GPO, National Library of Ireland, the National Museum of Ireland, and the National Gallery. Before joining RTÉ Mary McAleese held the position as Reid Professor of Criminal Law, Criminology and Penology in Trinity College, a position which was also held by Mary Robinson. She also held the position as Director of the Institute of Professional Legal Studies at Queen's University, Belfast. Mary went on to serve two terms as President of Ireland from 1997 to 2011.
