Has anyone who's stayed at this facility advise on whether or not we should pack our own chairs and umbrella for the trip? I'd like to leave behind as they take up trunk space, but I don't want to have race to the beach early each morning to "reserve" a chair if there aren't enough to go around. If you don't mind paying $20-25 a day for them, leave yours at home. The lifeguards set up the chairs every morning..you can rent them a day at a time...or all week. They usually have enough to go around. If you do bring your own, the umbrellas can not be larger than 7.5 feet...and they have to be in line or behind the line of chairs that the lifeguard puts out. (can't block his view of the ocean) Today they told us the chairs are $45 for the day, and their day ends at 5 pm. After decades of vacationing at the beach, last year we rented chairs from the lifeguard for the first time ever. Best thing we ever did. Didn't have to lug chairs down or worry about getting on the beach early to stake a spot.

We only had to pay $100 for the entire week though. If you decide to bring your own you can buy them locally at Wal-mart or Wings and Eagles. All of these are one mile from Kingston. You can leave them behind if you choose. Inexpensive to buy locally. I hate to say this, but it is probably best to just go ahead and rent chairs from the life guards. They should give you a multiple day discount and will put the chairs and umbrellas out for you every morning with your name on them. During the summer they place the chairs in a continuous line along where the dry sand starts, which is pretty high up the beach, and will not allow anyone to use an umbrella in front of that line. So unless you want to wake up early every morning to get your chairs in that line, you will be sitting behind the rental chairs (if there is room) if you have an umbrella. Much less stressful to just rent them. We also bring down some extra chairs so we can sit down by the water some of the time (without an umbrella).
