« It`s an Ibis! What do you expect?  Visited for a family get together. Lived in Stevenage for 30 plus years before moving away. Ideally situated for transport links especially train with the railway station just a short walk away. Shops and the Old Town on the doorstep. What was disappointing was the noise in the room from children next door (not being naughty just could hear every word and chair being dragged about) A function/disco was also taking place so all the evening you would have had to put up with the pounding bass and music which was supposed to stop at 2300 - it didn`t. The room was as expected, clean, tidy, well equipped just a bit tatty at the edges. The hotel was not full so there was no need to put a guest next to a room with kiddies and or a family in it. Not a good stay because of the noise issues. Mind you stopping a function would be a bit much to ask! Hannah C, General Manager at Ibis Stevenage Centre, responded to this review Thank you for your feedback.

I can assure action is always taken when things are reported and we try our best to prevent any noise disturbances but cannot guarantee silence. « Pleasant basic hotel » Rooms and bedding are clean. The hotel does not provide a full bar menu at weekends which does seem a little perverse. The majority of the staff are very pleasant. The girl working in the bar on the Friday night was embarrassed by the pitiful menu and provided a salad to go with the pizza going above and beyond what she was expected to do. Thank you fro your review. We have considered a full menu at the weekend however due to the location of the hotel and the amount of dinners we would sell it does not warrant paying a chef. We are looking at better options to provide our guests and this is a work in progress. « Nice but Cold Room » Room itself was lovely. However was not keen on the two separate mattress on the "queen" bed. Found the room to be very cold even when the heating was on 24 degrees - seemed to be blowing out cold air so didn't sleep very well at all.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. I will contact our heating company to investigate why cold air was blowing out and stating 24 degrees. « 4th time stay at Ibis Stevenage » I've stayed at this hotel 3 other times in the past. Its city centre location with proximity to shopping was what drew me in the first place. Sadly, The quality has degenerated since my first stay. I got there really late on thr 2nd day. I couldn't make it the 1st day and had called to let the hotel know and was told no problems, as my stay was prepaid. On arrival late at night, with 2 kids, I was told I had checked in. Took a few minutes to sort this. I wasn't offered any welcome drinks for my Accor membership tier. Once the checkin issue was sorted I got to my room with my many cases to find the room covered in black mold. I called reception to conplain. I was told to come down to pick up keys to move to another room. I moved 1 case and the kids only to get to the new room to find it was also covered in black mould.

Rather than move all our bags, I opted to return to the first room. Because I was exhausted after a long trip and didn't want to bother to move all my bags and kids to another room which wasn't any better than the first. I was told a note had been put in the system and the manager would talk to me the next day. Unfortunately, throughout my 2 days stay, I never heard from the manager on this issue and we had to stay in the room that way. After settling in, we discovered the room heating didn't work. I called reception again to complain. Was told they would reset and room would heat up in 30 mins. Unfortunately, that didn't happen and we had to sleep in the cold room that night. At breakfast juice, runs out and all the waiting staff could say was "we're sorry juice has finished". Overall I was very unhappy with my stay this time and I doubt I will return to Ibis again. I didn't get value at all for the money paid. Next time I will look at other hotels nearby. I am so sorry for the issues you were faced with during your stay.

We currently have had a change over in staff who are still learning the Accor benefits, I plan to change reception processes to make this much clearer. In relation to the room we are addressing this issue not that this is an excuse as you should have been placed in a room with no problems. I myself am the Manager and may not have been in and the message may not have been relayed to me upon my return, so again I apologise for this. I will speak with the breakfast hosts as they should not have given this kind of response. I am sorry your stay was not one that demonstrated the good service we promise to deliver. Please accept my apologies and I would like to welcome you back into the hotel, if you could contact myself directly then I would be happy to arrange some discounts.
