Your chair is highly adjustable and must be adjusted to fit you before use. First a few Ergonomic Tips. Be sure to sit in your chair, not on your chair. Your back should be in full contact with the back of your chair at all times. Your head should be directly above your shoulders. Your work should be at eye level. A footrest is highly recommended to prevent perching (leaning your head forward to reach your work). At the Better Back Store of Boulder, we want you to love your chair. If you have any questions on its operation, please call or visit us! We've created the following resources to guide you on how to adjust your Lifeform chair:

For more information, please visit Lifeform's website or review their Reference Guide. How to Adjust the Armrest Width The armrests can be adjusted to be farther apart or closer together. Follow the curve of the armrest under the seat to its star shaped Armrest Tightener. Loosen the knob and adjust the width of each arm. Tighten the knob before using the armrest. How to Adjust the Armrest HeightThe armrests go up and down. They should be adjusted to a position where your arms are at your side and lying comfortable on the armrests. There are two styles of Armrest Adjusters both of which are located on the outside of the armrest. If it's shaped like a double bar, squeeze the bars together and then raise or lower the armrest to the desired height. If it's shaped like a knob, twist the knob to raise or lower the armrest to the desired height. How to Adjust the Seat HeightUnder the right armrest there are three paddles. The middle paddle (Up-Down) raises and lowers the chair.

You can lower it while you are seated, but have to lift your weight off of the chair to raise it. Raise or lower your seat to bring your hips to an open angle sitting position at or greater than 90 degrees. Adjust the seat height after the armrests to match your work space. How to Adjust the Backrest HeightThe backrest goes up and down on a ratchet. When you are sitting in the chair, reach back and grasp the bottom of the back and raise it gently. Every click you hear is half an inch. If you go too far, raise the back all the way up and drop it down to its lowest position. Then raise it again to the desired height. The correct back height can be determined by adjusting the lumbar to the maximum setting before raising the back. When the lumbar hits you in the curve of your lower back, the back height is correct. How to Adjust the Backrest AngleThe backrest angles back and forth. Under the right armrest there are three paddles. The back paddle (Back Angle) is for the backrest. Lift that paddle to adjust the backrest angle.

The backrest will follow you. Release the paddle when the backrest is at the desired angle. How to Adjust the LumbarThe backrest has lumbar support. The Lumbar adjustment is located near the bottom of the backrest on the right hand side. In the up position, lumbar support is "off." As it is pushed down, lumbar support increases. Push that lever to your comfort level. How to Adjust the Seat DepthYou may have purchased a chair with a Seat Slider adjustment. Under the left armrest is a paddle. While not sitting in the chair, raise this paddle and move the seat forward or away from the backrest. When you are sitting you should have support for the backs of your legs, but you should still be able to get at least two fingers between the backs of your knees and the edge of the seat. How to Adjust the Chair AngleUnder the right armrest there are three paddles and one smaller lever. The front paddle (Lock or Rock) makes the chair rock. Grasp the front paddle and pull it up firmly until it locks.

Let go and the chair should be in free motion. Lower that paddle at the desired angle and lock the chair at that angle. Choose an angle that is comfortable for you. The seat can be level, tipped forward (depending on the position of the tilt-limiter lever), or back a bit. Change the angle periodically. The more forward the seat is angled, the less the pressure will be on the pelvis and spine. How to Pivot the ArmrestsThe armrests pivot in and out. By pivoting the armrests inward you can get closer to your desk. This helps facilitate proper sitting posture while working. How to Adjust the Tilt LimiterThe smaller lever on the right hand side near the front is the Tilt Limiter. It has two positions, forward or back. If the lever is positioned in the forward position, it limits the tilt of the seat to 90 degrees. If the lever is in the back position, it allows the seat to be angled forward. While sitting in the chair, lift the front paddle up, freeing the seat. Rock the chair back, holding this position, reach around with your right hand and the lever will now slide easily back and forth.

The range is only a few inches. It doesn't click into position, it just slides. Forward position limits the tilt. Back position frees the seat to be angled forward. If the paddle won't slide easily, it's usually because you are putting weight on the front of the seat. The seat needs to be rocked back and held back during operation of the tilt-limiter lever. Using a FootrestUsing a footrest helps prevent perching on the edge of your seat, leg crossing, and tucking your legs underneath you or your chair. It also allows you to move your feet which helps circulate your blood from the lower to the upper extremities. Be sure your hip angle and knee angle are 90 degrees or greater. RockingUnder the right armrest there are three paddles and one smaller lever. The placement of the backrest affects the range of the rocking. If the backrest is tucked up close, the spectrum of the rock will be small. If the backrest is angled back, the spectrum of the rock is wide. How to Adjust the Tension of the RockingThe cone shaped knob at the front of the left hand side is the Rock Tension adjustment.
