View all Top LEGO Toys View all LEGO Angry Birds LEGO DC Super Hero Girls Free next day Click+Collect*I can’t find an official definitive answer. But they were definitely considered! Here’s a prototype figure with a nose from when the minifigures were developed:(shudder)They were originally developed by Jens Nygaard Knudsen, and a small group of other designers in Billund in the early-to-mid-1970s— originally made by filing down existing LEGO bricks into a single, inflexible figure (which wasn’t all that great).

The facial features were likely designed to be minimalistic. Most of LEGO’s designs back then were very simple (the first minifigs didn’t even have any faces at all), and printing technology wasn’t what it is today (printing on curved surfaces is harder than printing on flat ones). It was likely decided to give it the most iconic and generic face possible, to allow it to be used for any gender, age, nationality, etc. Also of note was the widespread use of the yellow smiley-face that was in a lot of popular culture in the 60s and 70s— not terribly surprising that LEGO would choose to follow suit. However, some LEGO minifigures actually DO have noses! The first one to my knowledge was used in 1996:Beyond that, many LEGO figures exist apart from the minifigure, many of which feature noses:Friends Mini-Dolls:LEGO Technic Figures:DUPLO figures:So, they’ve appeared on-and-off throughout LEGO’s lineup and history— but nowadays, I’d guess that they don’t feature noses mostly due to the tradition, the same way that they still mainly use yellow skin tone.
