Robotics Connection is passionate to provide robotics enrichment courses for all ages. Our mission is to nurture a creative child through new technologies such as bluetooth, intelligent sensors and computer programming. We have conducted numerous robotics workshops and courses in schools, after-care centers, community clubs and country clubs over the past 9 years. Children will explore the wonderful world of science and technologies through hands-on robots building, programming and of course fun competitions. We strive to develop the scientists and engineers of tomorrow! Feb and March 2017 Robotics Registrations You can register on going robotics classes from  2017 by clicking on the following link. Computer Programming / Software Development The LEGO Mindstorms EV3 Discovery Book LEGO MINDSTORMS has changed the way we think about robotics by making it possible for anyone to build real, working robots.

The latest MINDSTORMS set, EV3, is more powerful than ever, and The LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 Discovery Book is the complete, beginner-friendly guide you need to get started. Begin with the basics as you build and program a simple robot to experiment with motors, sensors, and EV3 programming. Then you'll move on to a series of increasingly sophisticated robots that will show you how to work with advanced programming techniques like data wires, variables, and custom-made programming blocks. You'll also learn essential building techniques like how to use beams, gears, and connector blocks effectively in your own designs. Master the possibilities of the EV3 set as you build and program: The EXPLOR3R, a wheeled vehicle that uses sensors to navigate around a room and follow lines The FORMULA EV3 RACE CAR, a streamlined remote-controlled race car ANTY, a six-legged walking creature that adapts its behavior to its surroundings SK3TCHBOT, a robot that lets you play games on the EV3 screen The SNATCH3R

, a robotic arm that can autonomously find, grab, lift, and move the infrared beacon LAVA R3X, a humanoid robot that walks and talks More than 150 building and programming challenges throughout encourage you to think creatively and apply what you've learned to invent your own robots. With The LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 Discovery Book as your guide, you'll be building your own out-of-this-world creations in no time! If you are only going to buy one EV3 book this is the one you need to buy! I am an experienced LEGO coach and have lots of experience with Mindstorms NXT and thought I would soon get up to speed with EV3. It was only when I bought this book that I realised that EV3 could do far more then NXT and that I needed to work through this book to learn it all.

s first book this book is clearly written, with great diagrams and easy to follow instructions and doesnÃ??t assume that you have any prior knowledge. It covers both basic and advanced programming and explains how to use data wires so clearly that my nine year olds now prefer this method of programming over any other method. There are 132 Discovery activities that are graded according to difficulty; I use these to teach mixed ability groups in the classroom. When you buy the book, you also get access to supporting materials on LaurensÃ?? Make sure that you read the first three chapters before looking at any other, especially if you have used Mindstorms NXT previously. They may appear a bit boring but contain lots of really useful information. Another fabulous book Laurens; thank you for writing it./ev3discovery you get a free eBook of it as well.show moreEven before I picked up the latest LEGO Mindstorms set (the EV3) I had this project in mind for it.  This is my custom Ultimate Machine (also commonly known as a useless machine), which I call the LuuMa EV3.

Before I get into the details, you should really watch the video to see what it does. The LuuMa EV3 is a bit more elaborate than your typical ultimate machine.  I programmed 6 different actions for turning the switch off and 2 evasive maneuvers for trying to prevent the switch from being turned on in the first place.  During normal program operation these are selected randomly. The core ‘robot’, which is shown below, can be built entirely using the parts that come with the Home Edition version of the EV3 (set 31313). I had a blast building this model, programming the responses and playing with it once it was complete.  I can’t wait to put it out at a show and watch people interact with it. Instructions for building the core and the frame can be found below.
