Lego Harry Potter Buying Guide imageThe Harry Potter series of books and films transfixed a generation of children as well as their parents with compelling storytelling, a fantastic world, and memorable characters. The building company Lego...Read More about Lego Harry Potter Buying Guide4840 The Burrow is a Harry Potter set released on October 1, 2010. This set recreates the home of the Weasley family, and is made up of a large, three-story model of the house, a mechanical fireplace, and a marshland with reeds and a catapult. This set is based on the Weasley's house's appearance in the sixth installment of the Harry Potter franchise, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, specifically the scene in which the Burrow is attacked by Death Eaters who then set it on fire. The set includes six minifigures: Harry Potter, Arthur Weasley, Molly Weasley, Ginny Weasley, and the villains Bellatrix Lestrange and Fenrir Greyback. The Burrow's crooked structure was challenging for LEGO designers, but the team created a stable shell that is simple to build.

They then added asymmetrical elements and planks to the exteriror to give the impression of a lop-sided structure. The Burrow is a three story, "twisted" and asymmetrical house. The focal point of the interior of the house is the kitchen, the bottom floor. The kitchen has stacked dinner plates, cabinets that contain food, a grandfather clock, and a spinning light fixture. There is also a broomstick and a table with two benches for to sit on. The table has golden goblets, red cups, and a plate with cherries on it. There are swiveling chairs and a printed brick of the newspaper with the breakout from Azkaban as the main story. The floor above is Ron's room where Harry stays in, and as such Harry's trunk (which contains socks) and owl can be found, along with bunk beds. A poster of the Chudley Cannons, the Quiddich team Ron supports, is above the top bunk. The floor above is Ginny's room, with a bed, a lamp, newspaper on the attic window seat, and a poster of the Gryffindor Quidditch team.

This set includes a mechanical fireplace that creates the illusion of a minifigure disappearing through the Floo Network. One turn of the handle tilts the minifigure and reveals the emerald flames of burning Floo powder. Turning the handle back restores the back of the hearth and the original flames—and the minifigure is gone. To represent the Death Eater attack from the sixth movie, LEGO includes an area of marshland with a catapult to help either Bellatrix Lestrange or Fenrir Greyback launch flaming torches at the house. The reeds are tall enough to hide a minifigure. The set contains six Minifigures: Harry Potter, Ginny Weasley, Arthur Weasley, Molly Weasley, Bellatrix Lestrange, and Fenrir Greyback. There are also two owls and a pig. Three of the minifigures, Arthur, Molly, and Bellatrix, are not seen anywhere else in theme, and this particular version of Ginny in casual clothes is unique to this set. The Harry Potter minifigure appears in both this set and 10217 Diagon Alley, and in 4841 Hogwarts Express with grey pants instead of black pants.

Harry, Ginny, Bellatrix, and Fenrir all have reversible faces; Harry can look happy or determined, Ginny can smile or frown, Bellatrix can look excited or have a look of mock sympathy (as if she is taunting Harry), and Greyback can have his mouth closed or have his teeth bared. Everyone dreams of heading down to platform nine and three quarters and jumping aboard the magical train waiting there. But for those of us who never received our Hogwarts invitation (Obviously, my owl got lost on the way to my house) however, ForlornEmpire‘s amazing microscale LEGO Hogwarts Express is as close as we are going to get. Empire’s microscale English countryside scene is quite lovely and the mini Express is spot on. All that’s missing from this adorable little scene is some billowing smoke from the egnine. If you read our site often, you’ve probably noticed that a group of builders have been collaborating on an ongoing Harry Potter LEGO series.

Each builder has tackled a different book in the series, producing a small vignette scene for each chapter. recently finished the sixth book in the series, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, with 30 vignettes for the book’s 30 chapters, and the tiny scenes just keep getting better and better. Mel’s take on the Harry Potter vignette series is quite spectacular and a little different than those who have come before her. Most noticeably, Mel incorporated several intricate building techniques and even some microscale buildings (the Burrow) into her series. Of course, she also included a plethora of Unikitty tails (Mel’s signature LEGO piece) into her builds. If you missed any of the previous Harry Potter vignette series, be sure to check them out here: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by Marvel V. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by Markus Rollbuhler Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by Kevin Wollert Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by Thorsten Bonsch

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by Vaionaut See each of the fantastic Half-Blood Prince vignettes below. It’s Christmas time and preparations are well under way in the LEGO building world. Markus Rollbühler‘s collection of Christmas ornaments for his family’s Christmas tree are complete and this year’s theme is Harry Potter. Thankfully Markus has stuck with some of the lighter moments from each of the seven Harry Potter boks, a challenge especially given  darker nature of the later books. Microbuilds are often a real building test requiring ingenuity and a real knowledge of all the LEGO parts – Markus has both. Blades from minifigure weapons become wings, minifigure hands become quidditch players in flight and the trigger for a stud shooter becomes Buckbeak’s head! Can you work out the scene depicted in each ornament?Come on, even if you’re not a Harry Potter fan, you’ve probably been impressed by the amazing HP vignette series that a group of talented LEGO builders have been compiling.

Most recently Vaionaut finished building Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and the results are fabulous! Vaionaut’s vignettes are a little wacky and a little dark, just like the book. Throughout his builds there are some tremendous details. I especially love the detailed floors and quirky headwear. (Tonks’ hair is perfect!) For those that missed the LEGO vignettes from the prior four books, check them out here: Click below for more amazing Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix vignettes from Vaionaut. The weekend over, this morning shoppers flock to the internet to grab the hottest deals for Cyber Monday. We’ve already covered some great LEGO deals for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but a few  new deals are cropping up this morning on Amazon and the LEGO Shop online. Amazon has the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Dimensions Story Pack for 40% off, bringing it down to $29.99. It’s the only LEGO set to include Newt Schamander. It’s currently out of stock, but is available for backorder at the discounted price.

The Fantastic Beasts Dimensions Fun Pack is also on sale for 15% off, making it $10.19. Check out our previous sales post highlighting the Black Friday/Cyber Monday LEGO sales on Amazon for the full list of deals, including many sets up to 40% off, and click below for sales from the LEGO Shop online. If you need a break from fighting Dementors, you can always retreat to the cozy respite of Hagrid’s hut. Wookieewarrior crafts this iconic building from Harry Potter using tiles and plates to simulate the detailed texture of a cobblestone wall. The landscape is quite sophisticated as well, featuring four shades of green and parts we don’t see often such as tan levers used for grass. Youtube movie-spoofers/critics How It Should Have Ended  have enlisted LEGO animators Brotherhood Workshop to create an amusing recap of all seven Harry Potter films in just 90 seconds, running Harry through all the various trials in record time. It’s perfect timing, as moviegoers prepare for today’s opening of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the first new film set in the Wizarding World since 2011 (spoilers: I saw it last night and loved it).

The new Dimensions packs based on Fantastic Beasts are also available today, featuring Newt Scamander and Niffler in a Story Pack, and Tina Goldstein and the Swooping Evil in a Fun Pack. You’re a bit late, but given that we’ve just discovered this tiny Hogwarts Castle, I believe you’ll be able to start the term without issue. Kit Bricksto build this beautiful micro-scale Hogwarts and it’s just adorable. It’s very recognizable, with the greenhouses and great hall, and that lovely courtyard (no word if this is before or after book 7). As Hagrid mentioned way back on his second day with Harry, “…yeh’d be mad ter try an’ rob it.” And because we long identified that Harry doesn’t always listen well and the first couple of books are chock full of foreshadowing, our heroes do in fact successfully rob Gringotts. I mean, it totally helps when you ride an angry dragon’s back out of the vaults. Jared has recreated the scene of the dragon breaking out of the top of the bank, right before the last mad dash for freedom.

The poor thing looks properly emaciated and pale from all its time in the dungeons. Thorsten Bonsch has been hard at work all month recreating scene after gorgeous scene from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in LEGO. Each build is packed with interesting details and clever building techniques. For example, the stone fireplace in Chapter 19 was assembled using 1×2 tiles connected by minifig hands. To see how he accomplished tricks like this and enjoy other behind-the-scenes photos, check out Thorsten’s Twitter page. All the finished scenes are also on Flickr. And in case you missed them, here are similar LEGO versions of chapters from the first three Harry Potter books. Here are some of our favorite scenes from this latest Goblet of Fire collection: Click here to see more of our favorites I still remember reading the action-packed and intensely emotional scene in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix where Harry and his friends battle the Death Eaters at the Department of Mysteries in front of the unsettling archway known as the veil.
