Grab your passport and your floaties, the world’s largest Legoland Water Park has just opened in Malaysia as part of the Legoland Malaysia Resort. At three hundred thousand square metres, the Legoland designers have packed in lots of water fun for families. The Park includes twenty main water attractions as well as dozens of Lego models and interactive displays. The big draw card is the Build-A-Raft River which lets kids assemble their own raft made of soft Lego bricks and then float through the park via a slow-moving current. Thrill-seekers can head to the Tidal Tube or the Splash’N’Swirl, both seventy-five metre water slides but most of the Park attractions are designed for little kids.
Toddlers will enjoy the Duplo Splash Safari which includes water play, small slides and lots of familiar Lego characters recreated on a grand scale (such as alligators, zebras and elephants). There’s also the Joker Soaker, an interactive platform in a wade pool where kids can shoot water cannons as a jester tells family-friendly jokes, all the while dodging the torrential splash created by the a three hundred and fifty gallon bucket of water. The park includes a number of family water slides that allow groups to slide together on tubes, a gentle wave pool and slides to race down. While it may not have the thrill of the big slides or the razzle-dazzle of the Joker Soaker, I suspect the Imagination Station is the place where kids will invest some serious time. Consisting of two interactive tables of ‘open-ended’ activities, kids can build bridges, dams and cities out of bricks and test them against the flow of water. The Imagination Station also incorporates an adaptable water symphony, where you can create music using water spouts.
