Today I would like to show you the new sets in one of the longest standing LEGO themes; More specifically, the 2014 LEGO City Police sets. (All images are from the Brickset database.) In a future post we will also look at the other 2014 LEGO City sets. I thought to break them up like this as there are quite a few sets to talk about. So let’s dive right in! ➡ #60041 LEGO CITY CROOK PURSUIT: This is the smallest of the 2014 LEGO City Police sets. The criminal is nothing new, in fact we got plenty of these badguys in the 2012 LEGO City Forest Police line. T

he cop comes with a slightly updated torso. The motorcycle is nothing new either. Still, this is a decent little set if you want to get some of the new cop torsos without buying any of the larger sets. The small barrier the criminal is jumping over is also nice, containing four of the new brick-wall bricks. Although I do wonder what is a random barrier doing in the middle of the street? This set contains 38 pieces and retail for $6.99. This set is already available – BUY HERE ➡ Here we have a policeman chasing two criminals on motorcycles. The motorcycles are awesome; just look at those golden wheels! I really like the criminals too, particularly because LEGO has never done a female criminal in a LEGO City set before! The police car looks quite sleek and fast, and there is also a little bit of city construction that the motorcycles can use a ramp to try to get away. Another thing that I find interesting is the use of the LEGO Minifigures Series 9 policeman’s hat. This is a nice surprise! T

his set contains 110 pieces and will retail for $19.99. T ➡ I think that this is my favorite set from the 2014 LEGO City Police lineup. There is plenty of action and just look at that ball and chain! The cop here also comes with the new torso as well as the new hat. The four-wheeler is a simple design, but servers its purpose. And of course the star of this set is the prisoner transport truck! The windshield looks great, and just look at all those ways for our hero… er, I mean badguy… to escape! This set contains 196 pieces and the price is not yet known, but it should be in the $25-$30 range. ➡ Seems that LEGO decided to take another stab at the #7288 LEGO City Mobile Police Unit from 2011 – a highly popular set at that time. In fact the two sets look quite similar, yet there are also many differences. First of all the police minifigs are updated with the 2014 design, and we also get another ball and chain. Also, the policemen can actually see the prisoner in the holding-cell, which is thoughtful. T

here is also a large “Wanted” poster showing the two criminals from the High Speed Police Chase. I also really like the three screens above the computers. This set contains 375 pieces and the price is not yet known, but it should be in the $45-$50 range. ➡ Here we have another redo of a previous LEGO City Police set; this one being very similar to the #4205 LEGO City Off-Road Command Center from 2012, but this time with an actual boat for the robber instead of just a silly box. I think the robber’s boat is very well done and I also really like the colors. The police truck is slightly bigger than the previous version, and if you unhooked the trailer it would make an excellent off-road police SUV. It is hard to see just from this one image, but it appears that there is a winch on the trailer to lift the police boat. There is also a small rock-formation and a warning light. Lots of play-features here! This set contains 408 pieces and should also be in the $45-$50 range. ➡ This set comes with a twist; u

nlike most of the previous robber hideout sets, here the police helicopter is the main part of the set. It is 44 centimeters – that’s one big helicopter! The hideout is really nicely designed, but there is not a whole lot of living space. The garage area conceals a car for the robbers to get away. Did you notice the policeman hiding in the barrel? This set contains 528 pieces and the price is not yet known. ➡ Then of course we have to have a police station for all those robbers and badguys. LEGO seems to have combined the best features of previous years’ police stations with truly epic results. I absolutely love the idea of the jail-bars being able to be pulled out, but I do wonder what will happen to the poor criminal who is holding onto the bars when he hits ground? The police station appears to be able to hold four criminals in the jail cells, and there also seems to be a waiting-room and a mug-shot room. I also like the control-tower and garage. The are also two vehicles (one for the badguys), a police motorcycle and a police helicopter. T

his set contains 854 pieces, and the price should be in the $120 range. ➡ The exact name of this set is not yet known, but it is another hideout for the badguys. It also contains a nice old-style truck for the robbers, and a police vehicle with two policemen. Piece-count and price is not yet known. ➡ #60049 LEGO CITY HELICOPTER TRANSPORTER: Another interesting set, with a high-speed pursuit. One of the criminals is on motorcycle, while the other one is using racecar! The main part of this set is the helicopter transporter for the police, which of course includes a helicopter. This set contains 382 pieces and the price is not yet known, but it should be in the $45-$50 range. So that’s it for the 2014 LEGO City Police sets! Quite a big selection, isn’t it? A couple of the new LEGO City Police sets are already available at the Online LEGO Shop along with other 2014 LEGO City sets (and of course the 2013 sets also).
