Here at DFDS, we don’t like to do things by halves, so when we decided to build a LEGO version of a DFDS ship, we didn’t stop until we’d built the world’s biggest! The ship, which now holds the Guinness World Record as the biggest of all time, was built to help us celebrate our 150th anniversary. After all, it’s not every day you get to celebrate 150 years in the business. As part of this, the ship was appropriately named Jubilee Seaways. The big ideaJubilee Seaways was designed by Jesper Aagesen, Head of New Building at DFDS, and was based on a futuristic concept, rather than being built to resemble one of our current ferries. Then we called on 7,000 DFDS staff from 75 locations across 20 countries to help build thousands of big LEGO bricks, made of 48 individual LEGO bricks each. These big bricks were then used by LEGO artist Warren Elsmore and his team to create the magnificent ship.Jubilee Seaways has already been showcased at various events around Europe, including the Tall Ships Regatta in Blyth.

This November it will visit London, Dover and Immingham before heading to Gothenburg, Karlshamn and Copenhagen to celebrate our 150th anniversary.  To find out more about where you can see Jubilee Seaways for yourself, be sure to like our Facebook page. Check out our time-lapse video below to see Jubilee Seaways being assembled. WE'RE AWARD WINNINGIt’s always a proud moment when you’re recognised for your good work, we’re honoured to have been named again as the World and Europe's Leading Ferry Operator 2016 at the World Travel Awards.
