The 7" chair is sturdy but lightweightAs a family we follow Montessori principles so I needed a set up that could allow for snacking, activities, etc. for my children. I looked at many options and decided on the Steffy Wood 5, but it was too small (my daughter's legs bent outward to accommodate her). I contacted the company to return it but they wanted return shipping so we are keeping it for our newborn when the time comes and she needs to sit at the weaning table. Later that night, I logged onto Amazon and found a company that was selling this Bird in Hand 7" chair which happened to be cheaper than the 5" Steffy Wood I already owned. See below for more details about the Bird in Hand 7".Pros: The 7" chair is sturdy but lightweight. In just a few months time, my daughter has learned to move it herself when she wants to sit and she also has learned how to clean the chair as well. The chair is easy to clean and has held up with many wipe downs and washes with water and an all natural cleaner.

My one year old fits comfortably and the chair moves easily across carpet. This chair fits very well with weaning tables or side tables such as the IKEA - LACK Side table, birch effect.Cons: The bird in hand chair as you can see in the photo has a large logo on the front of the chair which is not shown anywhere in the item description so be aware of this. It doesn't effect the use of the chair but this should be considered by those who may want to resale or for other reasons. The product description itself offers no guide to help parents choose which chair should be used for their child. Also, my chair came with a little blemish in the wood (looks naturally occurring just happens to be on the front and very visible). Lastly, I wish the chair featured the slits on the side that other brands do. This could help at first with a young child maneuvering the chair themselves, especially when trying to scoot toward a table.Photo shows the contrast#1: Steffy Wood Products 5-Inch Toddler Chair#2: Bird in Hand 1320385 Stacking Toddler Chair, Seat Height 7", Natural Wood ToneMy daughter is very much on the smaller side, so I would suggest that buyers looking for a chair for 6 month old children to about 11 months purchase the 5" chair from Steffywood and if your child is 1-2 years old purchase the bird in hand or Steffywood 7" chair.

I hope this review is helpful and detailed for you to make the right purchase. I know that when I was comparing the two I didn't have this type of help and ended up having to purchase both. I'm very disappointed with the craftsmanship of the chair Kind of disappointed being that I got this chair for being sturdy ...The sculptor and painter Pedro Friedeberg works in a richly detailed, surreal and eccentric artistic style that blends influences from neoclassical art, M.C. Escher and native Mesoamerican symbolism. He is best known for his Hand chair — a functional sculpture that is an icon of design-as-art. Friedeberg was born in Florence to German parents and moved with his mother to Mexico at the outset of World War II. As a university student in Mexico City in the 1950s, he initially studied architecture, but his designs for fantastical buildings ran afoul of his rationalist, Bauhaus-oriented teachers. By chance, his drawings came to the attention of Mathias Goeritz, the German-born avant-garde painter and sculptor.

He encouraged Friedeberg and made him a protégé. Friedeberg credits his mentor for instilling in him a fanatical attention to detail in his work. Friedeberg produced his first Hand chair in 1961, and has since created numerous iterations. He has also made several variants using other human limbs in different functional forms such as tables and clocks. While Friedeberg’s sculptural pieces have a gentle character that is sometimes described as spiritual, his paintings are something entirely different. He employs deep perspective to create hypnotic, painstakingly rendered canvases that suggest rooms and cityscapes. Whatever the medium, Friedeberg’s work is arresting and instantly recognizable. The Hand chair, though familiar, remains a captivating piece — both furniture and artwork — that stands apart in any interior. Examples are often priced between $20,000 and $30,000, depending on formal variations (such as a foot-shaped pedestal), material and condition. Smaller functional items such as tabletop clocks bring about $9,000.

His paintings and drawings require space; they are meant to be contemplated. Prices on original examples start at about $30,000; prints generally sell in the region of $900. As you will see on these pages, the art and design of Pedro Friedeberg is singular and memorable. We have moved to larger facility.
