In answer to the question about being waterproof, the answer is yes--with a caveat: If you drop a full glass of water directly on this mattress pad, your mattress may get slightly damp. If that happens, simply remove the pad, hang it out to dry, then blot the mattress with a towel and let it air dry. This pad can be washed in a front loader using cold water and a medium spin cycle. However, the wool fiber supplier has to treat the fiber with a Chloride/Resin treatment to make it a ''washable wool'', which is done before we get it and turn it into fabric."
