All of us at the Bavarian Inn Lodge want to make sure that you receive the best guest room to assist you with your particular handicap, special need or limitation. Many guests with sports or accidental injuries often have questions about our handicap guest rooms. This page as well as our partnership with The Disabled Traveler’s website is dedicated to giving you in-depth information about each of our 18 barrier free guest rooms. Some guest rooms are left-handed for toilet transfer and some are right handed. We realize that toilet height and bed height are important facts for you to know when traveling as well. We would be pleased to assign you a specific handicap guest room based on your needs once you visit our page at The Disabled Traveler website. Call our Reservationists Toll Free at (855) 652-7200 to assist you with your requirements and specific room reservations! When reserving your guest room you can reserve an Amigo for $35.00 per night to comfortably travel around the Lodge and around Frankenmuth… Yes, you can “take to the sidewalks” with it during your stay as well! Three of our Pools and Two of our Whirlpools have a Chair Transfer Lift! Our Adult Only Pool and two large play-pools are all equipped with transfer chairs for this with disabilities or restrictions. The Adult Only whirlpool is to small to safely install a lift. The other two whirlpools are fully equipped. Let your reservationist know that you will require an ADA kit during your stay as well so we may make note of it in advance. Kit includes all standard items required by ADA for guestroom use during your stay. The Bavarian Inn Lodge was designed with no “required steps” within the design of all public areas. The adult Courtyard pool area requires zero steps to enter and a large gradual ramping system is designed to access the Ratskeller Restaurant, Fun Center and Michael’s Gift Shop.

Even 6 holes of the miniature golf course has been barrier free since it was built in 1994. Handicap parking is available near the front entrance of the hotel, but long-term parking is more convenient near each guest entrance on the North East side of the building so don’t settle your vehicle out front as this will not necessarily be the closest handicap parking to your guestroom. The Bavarian Inn Lodge is adjacent to the Wooden Covered Bridge which has separate pedestrian sidewalks from the car traffic making access to Main Street and the Bavarian Inn Restaurant very convenient. Please share with our staff any special needs you have by phone in advance so we can help eliminate any concern for travel on your behalf. Below is a partial list of the types of organizations who have held Conferences / Conventions at the Lodge and have been very pleased with our extra efforts in minimizing restrictions to having a great stay in Frankenmuth! When you struggle with mobility issues that either limit the amount you can walk or restrict you from walking at all, an assistive device can be an invaluable tool to help you maintain your independence. A mobility scooter may allow you to traverse all sorts of terrain and offers you the freedom to get where you need to go. Take charge of your mobility today by checking out the wide selection of scooters available from Walgreens. Typically, individuals with mobility issues that make walking impossible have two choices when it comes to assistive devices: a mobility scooter or a power wheelchair. The decision will ultimately come down to your personal preference as well as advice from your doctor, but there are several distinctive features about each option that might make either a scooter or a wheelchair more appealing to you. A mobility scooter is controlled via handlebars, so you need to be able to sit upright and be dexterous enough to steer it. Power wheelchairs, however, are controlled via a joystick on the armrest and give you more options in terms of how you are situated.

Scooters tend to be more rugged and sturdy, which makes them a great choice for outdoor use. On the other hand, power wheelchairs tend to be easier to maneuver because they have a tighter turn radius, so they are often the best option for consistent indoor use. Scooters typically weigh less than wheelchairs, and often have a basket to help you carry groceries and other items. You may also prefer the look of a scooter more because it doesn't resemble an electric wheelchair aesthetically. Once you and your doctor have decided a scooter is the right choice for you, there are still a number of factors to consider when shopping for your ideal model. The weight limit of a particular scooter, for instance, may impact your decision. Remember that the weight of the rider isn't the only thing to think about. You should also take into account any assistive medical devices like oxygen tanks, as well as the sorts of items you may need to transport, such as grocery bags or laundry. Mobility scooters typically come in three or four wheeled models.

Three wheeled scooters tend to have a tighter turning radius and are easier to maneuver, while the four wheeled varieties are more stable when driving over uneven surfaces. You can also choose between models with front-wheel or rear-wheel drive as well as safety features like anti-tip mechanisms, depending on whether you plan to drive your scooter mostly on flat indoor surfaces or will be taking it over rougher terrain. How you plan to transport your scooter should also be a major consideration when purchasing because you need to make sure you can fit it in your car. Many mobility scooters are built for travel and can be disassembled easily, but others are more solid and may even require a vehicle lift if you want to bring them with you. A mobility scooter can be a great way for individuals of any age to get around more easily. Check out the selection of devices available from Walgreens to help you maintain or regain your independence.
