We don't know about you, but we're ready to hit the beach this weekend. We've packed our sunscreen, shades, and a good beach read, but something's missing... We don't have a chair to enjoy the beautiful view in comfort! Before your next trip to the surf and sand, read our buying guide to help you choose the best beach chair for your style. Most chairs will fold for easy storage and transportation, but some become more compact than others and even include carrying straps. Our favorite models are designed as backpacks, such as the Rio Brands high back steel backpack chair by WearEver, so you can carry them hands-free. Also, adjustable models are available that offer anywhere from 2-7 reclining positions. We like the ones that fully recline, so we can take a little snooze in the sun. Other attractive qualities to look out for are integrated cup holders, adjustable neck rests, zippered storage pocket, and canopies to block the strong rays.Beach chair frames can be found in a range of materials, from metal to wood to plastic, and they each have their benefits... and downsides.

Although aluminum frames are the most portable and lightweight, they may dent or bend if not handled gently. Steel frames are more durable, but make sure the metal has been powder-coated so it's rust-resistant. Wooden chairs tend to be heavier than metal but they are very sturdy and have a classic appeal. Additionally, hardwood or plastic armrests won't get as hot in the sun, burning your forearms. Most seats are made from polyester, plastic or polypropylene because these materials are durable, washable, dry quickly and allow air to circulate through their open weaves. They also can be made in bright colors and patterns. Cotton or canvas seats are also available, which are softer to the touch, but don't hold up to the elements as well. A Variety Of Styles. There are several types of chair models that range in price, comfort and portability for you to choose from. For a budget option, classic sand chairs offer a simple and lightweight design, but have little to no adjustability options or bells and whistles.

Hi-boy beach chair are similar, but are raised 16-18 inches off the sand. Classic butterfly chair are popular for the beach or other outdoor environments, because they fold small for easy transportation. Chaise lounge chairs offer the most comfort and total relaxation because they extend longer than classic style chairs so you can stretch out and rest your legs, although these models are often bulkier and less portable. Out of all the styles available, our picks are the new ergonomic "zero gravity" models designed to reduce pressure off the spine and mold to your body. They can adjust into any position, from straight up to fully reclined and look pretty cool too! Havenever been there and need to know where to buy beach chairs and umbrellas in Destin or Fort Walton Beach, FL? How much do they cost to buy?

Would we be better off buying online and bringing them with us. Our condo does not provide them. One destination mentioned in this post The question is more like, where CAN'T you buy them? LOL Target, WalMart, any of the billion beach/surf shops, even Publix sometimes. You stated that your condo does not provide them. I would ask them if there is beach service available. The difference is the umbrellas by the beach service folks are are quite large and the chairs recline close to flat. The umbrellas you find in the store are generally light weight and if not anchored properly will blow over or inside out. There is a corkscrew to get them anchored properly, but I don't think the poles are as long. All that being said, discuss what will work for you and compare price versus convenience. I am also interested... Our resort actually includes beach set-ups : ) But we hope to check out other beach areas as well. I know that many local places will have them.

What would be a decent brand/type to get. I was wondering if some locals and/or experts may have any tips on this! I was noticing a nice Wearever/Rio beach backpack chair for what looks to be a good price at $29.99 at Wondering if there might be a matching umbrella. I also hear that a really good sandgrabber is necessary. So we are looking at this.... this sand anchor is supposed to be 26 inches long. I am thinking that this might be much better than what we might find at the local Walmart. Edited: 4:02 pm, February 12, 2011 What is a reasonable price to pay for a chair and umbrella? I have checked out the rentals and they seem to run between $20-30 per day. After 7 days of rental, I can surely buy several chairs and umbrellas. It is less expensive to buy your own but it is so much more convenient to just walk down to the beach and have everything set up for you, and even better, when you are ready to go back to the room, you don't have to worry about your chairs and umbrella.

The Wearever/Rio backpack is the best if you are going to different beaches - I use mine all the time There is a pocket in the back of the chair to pack your book, towel, lotion whatever - put the chair on your back and pick up your cooler and you are ready to go. I use one of the sandanchors/tables we found and it holds up our cheap umbrella just fine - no real problem with keeping it upright. $29.99 looks to be a good price for this chair, and since you can recommend, I may go ahead and order. We like to use the beach service when we can, because we spend all day at the beach and the chairs are more supportive than folding chairs. That said, we do go to some beaches in the off season where the beach service is no longer available...so we bought a cheap umbrella and our own chairs. Don't waste your time with the cheaper flimsy umbrellas. The heavier duty ones can cost you around $50-$70 at the beach shops. Last year, I found some very nice heavier beach umbrellas at Sams for about $35- just as sturdy as the more expensive ones at the beach shops.

We liked it so much after our first trip to Hilton Head last year, that we purchased a second one as soon as we got home for future trips. I bought my first one around this time of the year...maybe they will have them again this year. Edited: 9:24 pm, February 20, 2011 I can also recommend the wearever beach chair .We have had our for several years now. I also recommend ordering a good quality umbrella online. The ones we have seen in the stores are pretty thin. If you shop around you can find some good prices on a good quality umbrella online. What is the way to do a best wedding proposal in Destin?
