They are 600 feet apart and rest 75 feet from a thousand foot long, secluded red and white deep sandy beach and have a view from the decks of the Wood Islands lighthouse. Sleeps 5 in beds. Single blow-up mattress available for additional guests.The Aft cottage is a 2 storey, 3 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath cape cod style house and sits back a thousand feet, on higher ground from the other cottages with an ocean view. It's a 3 or 4 minute walk to the beach, or drive down if you wish. The Aft has a double-bed in one bedroom, single over double bunk-bed in the second, and a double in the third. Seating for eight in dining room. Sleeps 7 in beds.Homeport cottages are situated down a quiet, completely private lane on a 20 acre parcel that faces the Northumberland Strait on the southernmost tip of P.E.I. 2 km from the ferry to Nova Scotia. The South Shore has warmer waters and calmer seas. We are right in the middle of a big cove.
The beach is very secluded, great for treasure hunting, and swimming, especially after the tide comes over the warm sandbars. You can dig for edible bar clams when the tide bares off at low tide, as well as walk for miles on the sandbars and see seals sunbathing in the water by times near the lighthouse. Kids will love exploring sea life, building sandcastles, and splashing in the tide pools where they can find rock crabs and hermit crabs and sanddollars. There is plenty of room on the 1000 foot long family friendly beach, and lots of large umbrellas with wooden tables and chaise loungers on the beach to catch some shade on hot afternoons.
