BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) also known as the Bangtan Boys, is a South Korean male vocal group. This group consists of seven members, including RM, J-Hope, SUGA, Jin, V, Jungkook, and Jimin, which was formed by the Hybe Corporation. The name was then an acronym to Beyond The Scene in July 2017. On 12 June 2013, they performed the song "No More Dream" from their original album 2 Cool 4 Skool which supported their debut on 13 June 2013.

They won the New Artist of the Year for the song "No More Dream", including at the 2013 Melon Music Awards and Golden Disc Awards and 2014 Seoul Music Awards. They attracted more attention with the album Dark & Wild (2014), The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part 2 (2015) and The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever (2016), with the last two albums entering the US Billboard 200. The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever won the Album of the Year award at the 2016 Melon Music Awards.

The group's name, BTS, is an abbreviation of the Korean expression Bangtan Sonyeondan (방탄소) which literally means "Bulletproof Boy Scouts". The name was conceptualized with the thought that BTS would block the stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that target youth like bullets and protect the values and ideals of today's youth.

In Japan, they are known as Bōdan Shōnendan, which translates the same. In July 2017, BTS added that in addition to Bangtan Sonyeondan or Bulletproof Boy Scouts, this name also stands for "Beyond the Scene" as part of their new identity. The addition of their name means "BTS are young people who grow up who go beyond the reality they face, and progress."
