BitClave Weekly Update - May 7, 2018

Development

Last week we mainly focused on data access permissions and had a very good progress there. In BASE, user data must be completely secured, so we work very carefully around all aspects related to user data access and permissions.

We’ll briefly describe here one problem and the solution that we came up with. As you know by now, all data is encrypted in BASE and user has to grant an explicit permission to a 3rd party/DAPP to allow DAPP to access user’s data. In development of BitClave’s products, we use only the public APIs, meaning these APIs can be used by anyone who wants to develop for BASE, we do not have any backdoors in BASE system.

So, when we develop Desearch, we need to allow user to grant Desearch permissions to access his data. Desearch can access user’s data from the client side or from the backend side. On the backend side, Desearch backend will access user’s data using Desearch’s baseID. When Desearch is accessing user’s data from the client side, it looks like the data is accessed from user’s baseID. So, when we write access permission into BASE, we need to encrypt it in such a way, that only Desearch and the user itself can decrypt it and no one else. The raw traditional asymmetric RSA encryption does not help us here as we want to encrypt the data such that two different entities will be able to decrypt it (Desearch and the user itself). We have chosen a scheme based on ECIES ( Elliptic Curve Integrated Encryption Scheme ). In ECIES, the data is encrypted using symmetric encryption where the encryption key is derived by “user” using Desearch’s public key. So, Desearch, can decrypt the data. But the user also can decrypt the data, as it can regenerate exactly the same symmetric key as it generated for encryption.

Marketing

We have analyzed past data of various platforms - both online as well as offline and have formulated a marketing strategy for the next 3 months for BitClave and our flagship products - MatchICO and Desearch.com. Our Branding exercise is underway with internal brainstorming sessions and we will be taking a decision on the nomenclature and repositioning very soon.

Last week we majorly focused on the marketing activities around Ethereal Summit as well as the Consensus 2018 both happening in New York City. We're excited about hosting our very first meetup in New York City, a few minutes walk away from where Consensus 2018 will be held. The details will be shared with the community shortly. Feel free to join the event via Facebook here. If you have crypto/blockchain friends in New York City - we would happy to host them at the meetup.

We are also excited about forming a unified community for Desearch.com that will have a dedicated community champions from our end. We already have an active channel on Telegram  and would soon be active on other social media channels. Stay tuned!

There has been good amount of coverage in the month of April for BitClave on various forums that we would like to touch upon.

Events/meetings

Last week we were presented at 2 big events.

Fist of them was Crypto Invest Summit, that took place in Los Angeles on May 30 - April 2.

Also, our President Vasily Trofimchuk attended a closed event in Singapore called World Digital Assets Summit. The event gathered professionals from all over the world and gave us a possibility to create new valuable connections.

At the end of the next week, our team is heading to New York City for the Blockchain Week NYC. CEO Alex Bessonov, President Vasily Trofimchuk and Head of Growth Pratik Gandhi are going to attend the most anticipated events in the blockchain space - Ethereal Summit and Consensus 2018. We are looking forward to collecting and implementing the most valuable knowledge and meeting new people for further collaboration.
