A bicycle, also called a bike or cycle, is a human-powered or motor-powered, pedal-driven, single-track vehicle, having two wheels attached to a frame, one behind the other. A bicycle rider is called a cyclist, or bicyclist.

Bicycles were introduced in the 19th century in Europe, and by the early 21st century, more than 1 billion were in existence. These numbers far exceed the number of cars, both in total and ranked by the number of individual models produced. They are the principal means of transportation in many regions.

The first mechanically-propelled, two-wheeled vehicle may have been built by Kirkpatrick MacMillan, a Scottish blacksmith, in 1839.

Today - a bicycle is one of the most popular, and most importantly, nature-friendly means of transportation. It consists of several main parts. Frame, wheelbase, fork and system (pedals, cranks and speed switches).

Today there are several types of bicycles. City bikes, road racing bike, track bike. Technology for the production of bicycles is improving every year, progress doesn`t stand still.

Bicycles today are an indispensable form of transport that replaces cars and buses for many people. You do not need to pay money for riding a bicycle, it does not pollute nature with harmful waste, and riding it brings great pleasure.
