These would not retract completely but this unit doesand is a nice replacement for either. The instructions have some not clear instruction of how to actually install the unit. Although I figured it out. Some hardware was missing for mounting the rail, but a fast run to the hardware store and then cut to fit, hang the rail, mounting to the wall and you're good to go. Great to separate rooms to concentrate cooling or heating to one room and/or for privacy. Make sure to measure your doorway before ordering as this unit is a standard size there are others here that are custom size.
These units are made to order, mine took about 3 weeks to get once ordered. 4 Stars is an average rating, 5 stars for the unit itself and 3 stars for the lack of instruction and hardware that was missing. Door was great, easy to fit. can the shade height be cut to a smaller size? No, this door is not designed to be trimmed. Instead a custom sized pleated door can be ordered here. How does this door attach at the top? A rail is included with the door that is mounted to the top of the doorway. There are hangers attached to the pleated door to allow it to slide into said track. We do not have a close up image of the pleated door, however United Shade sells replacement hangers for a pleated folding door and can view the hanger here. The 'eye' side is attached to the door while the 'disc' end slides in the track. A 'ball catch' is mounted to the door jamb to keep the door closed while a strap keeps the door open. is this a ceiling mount track or just on the side? Anchoring bolts for hollow core doors The success of this project greatly depends on building square, and installing level and square with a square closet opening. Cut your boards to fit your closet and closet doors. First, measure your closet doors. If they are a standard 24″ wide, you will need to subtract 5 1/2″ to get a total door shelf of 18 1/2″ wide. That means all of the shelves will need to be cut at 17″ wide. Measure the overall height of the doors and subtract two inches. Cut two 1x6s to this length. You will also need to cut as many shelves as desired to the shelf width (in my example, 17″ wide). Also cut 1×2 shelf trim to the shelf width, one more than the number you cut for shelves. Basically, you just build a shelf, as shown above, out of 1x6s. You have to make the shelf 5 1/2″ narrower than the closet door so that it has room to swing when opening and closing. Then you attach the 1x2s as shelf trim and supports.
