One of them is definitely amazing, but not bedwetting. However, how to clean pee out of a mattress is something we eventually have to learn to do.Bedwetting tends to happen among kids, especially when they’re still starting out potty training. Unfortunately for some, it can go on until teenage years. Let’s take a closer look at what bedwetting really is. IntroductionNocturnal Enuresis (Bedwetting)Step 1Step 2Homemade Cleaning Solution Recipe 1Homemade Cleaning Solution 2Step 3Step 4Step 5Step 6Step 7Preventive Measures And Prolonging The Mattress’ LifespanConclusionNocturnal Enuresis, more commonly known as bedwetting, is involuntary peeing during sleep. For some, the problem can reach until teenage years. You can try different ways to manage nocturnal enuresis, but relapse can still occur. If the problem persists even after different interventions, you might need to see a doctor. That said, it is important to be patient with your kid and not get angry because they’re not doing it on purpose.

This is embarrassing for most children, especially older ones, so try not to pressure them.Bedwetting does happen, and when it does, it could leave a stain or a stench on the mattress. Even when it doesn’t happen at every night, one little accident can cause a lot of unpleasant odors and stains. Just the thought of a soiled mattress can make even the most comfortable mattress less comfortable. Not to mention, the odor will be disturbing too. Here are steps on how to clean pee out of mattress:Remove the bedding and wash as you would normally. If staining is a problem, wash the spot with detergent under hot running water before regular washing.Gather up your cleaning supplies. Your cleaning solution is up to you. When using detergent and a stain remover, follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the right ratio. You can also make your homemade cleaning solution with common household items. 1Mix 2 cups of water with 2 cups of vinegar. Add four generous spoons of baking soda. You can adjust this according to how much you might need.

Mix ½ cup of hydrogen peroxide with 1 cup of baking soda. These cleaning solutions can work with stains on the mattress, carpet, and other surfaces. Always use with caution. Read manufacturer’s mattress care special instructions if there are.Use a dry towel or cloth to remove excess urine by using a pressing motion gently. A rubbing motion on the stain because that will only cause it to spread deeper into the mattress.Remember that temperature affects how a stain sets. Use cold water when handling urine stains to prevent it from setting in.If the urine has dried out, you can still proceed with cleaning. The sooner you clean will prevent the stain from setting in and the easier it will be to clean. You can use a spray bottle to spray the solution on the soiled area. If not, you can also use cloth. Just dab it in the solution and then onto the soiled area. For the homemade solution, leave it on for 5-10 minutes to allow it to break down the stain. Otherwise, follow the recommendations of the manufacturer.

Afterwards, blot up the moisture again with a dry clean towel or cloth. It’s good to remember that a lot of foam mattresses do not do well with water. So keep it as dry as possible. Do not pour the solution. You wouldn’t want it to be “trapped” in the mattress. That will not be good for the integrity of the foam because it’ll harbor bacteria and cause unpleasant odors.Let blotting be your best friend and be stingy with the liquid.Use a dry, clean towel or cloth to collect any moisture left on the mattress. This is to get the residual urine off the mattress and to prevent mold from forming. It’s best to get the mattress as dry as possible.Sprinkle baking soda over the affected area once more. Let it sit for another 10-15 minutes before dabbing it away with a cold, wet cloth.Use the vacuum to remove any baking soda residue. Afterwards, you can air dry the mattress, or you can use a fan. If you have limited time, you can use a blow-dryer at a low temperature to dry the area. Should the drying take long, you might need to make other sleeping arrangements for your kid for the night.

When the stain and odor problem is resolved, you will still want to keep your mattress clean to keep it longer. Regular cleaning can increase the longevity of the mattress. If you have a child, you can take preventive measures to keep it clean.Waterproof mattress protectors are very useful especially if dry nights are still difficult to come by. Have two in hand if your child still has regular bed wetting. One for use while the other is still being cleaned.Vacuum the Mattress: Vacuuming removes dust, dead skin cells, and other debris that accumulate on the mattress. Consider vacuuming every season or so. Make sure you use a clean upholstery attachment. You don’t want to deposit nasty things in your mattress from what your vacuum sucks up.Deodorize your mattress: Even without urine, the mattress can still end up smelling bad from sweat. To combat any unpleasant odor, sift baking soda on the whole mattress and leave it for about 30 minutes. Then you can vacuum it out. You can do this together with your seasonal mattress clean.
