The first thing to understand about us is we are not an Inn but a small personal Band B .Generally ou guest stay with us because we are quite inexpensive for what we offer. What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn? Our guest like the privacy the gardens offer. The history appeals to history buffs, the guesthouse is believed to be a restored slaves quarters. Very few records remain of the early years. Summerville at sometime during the Civil Was, or as is said in Charleston “the recent unpleasantness”, was in Colleton County where the Court House, holding many records, was burned.




A photo does remain of the cottage before the renovation took place. We love that this is home after so many years travel with the navy. We try to preserve it for the future because it is so unique. If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit? Many of our guests are here because of the proximity to Charleston. What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn? “We will be back!”is a really good compliment. What’s the best kept secret about the area? I think Summerville itself is still a secret. We have a downtown that looks like it was taken from a post card. A beautiful park that displays sculpture by world class artists. Unique shops for many tastes, eating places range from chains, Greek, wine and cheese, down home cooking, to white table cloths. A little theater that is exceptional. A group of concerned locals that are always working to add to the quality of life. If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?




First we’d be thrilled for four days, we would suggest they: 1. Spend one full day in Charleston(some come for Charleston so they want to spend more). 2. A visit to at least one of our nearby historic plantations, Magnolia,Drayton Hall, a National Trust House and Middleton Place, here you could spend most of a day with the gardens, stable yards, house museum, slave exhibit and a great place for lunch. 3. A day wandering Summerville for the museum, a stop at the Timrod Library for a tour, shopping and having a relaxing lunch at one of the variety of places. 4.Go to the beach, Folly beach probably and if they are not beach people then drive to Beaufort, a small historic town, a change of pace from here or add a couple of hours and spend a full day in Savannah, Georgia, a beautiful old southern city. Is there anything within walking distance of your inn? Within walking distance are four churches, two different tennis courts, park with world class sculpture and downtown Summerville.




What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area? Our favorite eating place is what we are in the mood for at the time, Oscars for the rich seafood burrito, Continental Corner for a Greek salad , the corner drug Store for a hot dog and an ice cream cone or the place so many of our guests like- the Mustard Seed. Any good area guides/websites that travelers could reference? We have a AAA travel book for the area, a book of local eating places, and lots of area brochures , websites are beyond me. How many rooms does your inn have? Our B and B is our guesthouse, perfect for two, it has a large main room with sitting area around the fireplace, the opposite side is the queen bed, off from here is a bath, closet and a small fully equipped kitchen. Do you accept pets? We do not take pets but there are several vet clinics, Westbury-843-873-9853 for one and then Howl-a-Day Inn-843- 875-8746. Summerville is a small town that offers a variety of outdoor activities and cultural events.




Biking, fishing, shopping, golfing, hiking, kayaking, walking/jogging paths, museums, art galleries, theater, orchestra and sculpture scattered throughout the town. Our farmers market offers fresh local produce, meats, seafood and baked goods every Saturday 8 am - 1pm, April through November. The farmers market is within walking distance. The third Thursday of each month the shops in Historic Downtown Summerville stay open late and have lots of family fun events. Walking distance from Azalea Park and public tennis courts. We have 5 golf courses within 20 minutes; Summerville Country Club 2 miles, 6 minutes Pine Forest Country Club, 5 miles, 11 minutes Legend Oaks, 7 miles, 16 minutes Golf Club at Wescott Plantation, 7 miles 15 minutes Coosaw Creek Country Club, 10 miles, 19 minutes There are three beaches; Folly Beach, Sullivan's Island and Isle of Palms that are within 30-35 miles, approximately a 45 minute drive (if not traveling during rush hour).
