People who sleep well have fewer heart problems, are less likely to make risky financial decisions, and are in better shape. So in order to sleep better at night, we recommend getting a mattress topper. We picked four of our favorites (that are all super discounted right now.) Memory foam conforms to your body perfectly, which reduces pressure points that cause you to toss and turn at night. Pro-tip: These toppers come in various widths (from 2″ to 4″). If you’re a bigger person we recommend selecting a thicker model. Memory Foam Solutions: $659.99 $113.99 If regular memory foam isn’t enough for you, go for the latex mattress topper. It provides 33% more pressure relief than conventional foam and fiber cushioning materials.

Plus, it won’t bunch, flatten, or sag. Ultimate dreams Talalay latex soft mattress topper: $599.00 $354.00 Another option is the gel infused memory foam topper, which is known for its therapeutic qualities and orthopedic support. This gel mattress topper specifically helps relieve neck, back and shoulder pain. And because the foam curves around your body, it helps relieve stress, joint and muscle pain and even arthritis. The Milliard gel infused memory foam mattress topper + ultra soft removable bamboo cover: $369.00 $84.99 And if you want the best quality for a lower-priced model, this mattress topper is your go-to. “High-quality yet super affordable; I was initially worried it was going to be cheaply made, but not at all — it’s just as nice as the more expensive toppers I’ve owned in the past, if not better,” one reviewer wrote. Best Price Mattress memory foam mattress topper: $265.00 $122.76 Disclosure: This post is brought to you by Business Insider’s Insider Picks team.

It is one of the most common reasons for missing work, and the second most common reason why people visit the doctor, with only respiratory infections leading to more doctor visits.

Half of all Americans state that they have symptoms of back pain each year, and it is estimated that up to 80% of all Americans will experience some sort of back problem during their lives. It is estimated that Americans spend at least $50 billion per year on back pain, often times to no relief. One of the most important things that you should look to get if you have lower back pain is a good mattress. Everyone has heard that you should stand up straight. Have you ever heard that you should sleep straight? If you haven’t, then you should have. Sleeping with poor posture for 6-8 hours per night will contribute to and often times worsen back pain. Many sleep experts have recommended getting a firm mattress to help with back pain. This makes sense, and good sleep posture includes good alignment between the hips and the shoulders. Softer beds allow the hips to sink in more than the shoulders, creating pressure on the lower spine, leading to back pain. Unfortunately, firm mattresses are often uncomfortable.

While they provide firm alignment for the back, they create pressure points on the hips and shoulders and don’t support the curves of the body well, including the curvature of the lower back. A good solution to this problem is the Intelli-Gel® mattress topper. While foam toppers create the same problems that are experienced with soft mattresses, Intell-Gel mattresses allow firm surfaces, like the back, to be pushed up firmly to the top of the mattress. Parts of the body prone to pressure including the hips and the shoulders sink softly into the mattress providing exceptional pressure relief. It is literally the only mattress that can be firm for you back, and soft for the hips and shoul-ders at the same time. This is possible thanks to Intelli-Gel collapsable cells that buckle under large amounts of pressure. Since the back is overall a flat surface, the gel walls stay upright forcing the back into good alignment. Hips and shoulders place a large amount of pressure over a small surface area which causes the cell walls to collapse, providing selective pressure relief.
