I wake up so over heated I have to get out of bed and cool down. It's really impacting my sleep. I want to buy a new mattress, but don't have the money so I thought maybe there could be some sort of mattress pad that might insulate me from the foam. I washed mine just fine. Followed the directions for washing....I did air dry it though to be safe! yes I washed mine in a machine on gentle cycle "what about in cooler weather...is this mattress pad good for cool nights as well as hot?" This pad is not thick enough for what you want.I actually got rid of ours already because it fits poorly on our king bed (moves around a lot), and it actually retains heat for us. I'm not sure why. I was really disappointed.This is not what you are looking for; it is not thick enough. It also does not do much for keeping you cool. It does make the bed slightly softer, but especially cooler. The pad is very soft and comfortable. We do not feel any of the seems. We have had this pad for the last 10 months. it is not really a seam on the top where you sleep - it is quilted - no issues with feeling this This mattress is very comfortable ,have sleep number mattress an paid over $ 300.00 for it an there's no comparison to this mattress pad its is comfortable an cool good investment great night sleep ,we also purchase 2 of them for another bed I agree with others that the pad is indeed comfortable from a softness standpoint. A different question is how well it can cool you. I respect the opinion of others but as for me it did not really keep me as cool as I was hoping for. no one is answering my question. we bought 2 and can't tell any difference and really want to feel cool. Hello cander, this is just suppose to keep you cooler at night. Normal memory foam is sometimes hot and can be uncomfortable. This memory foam disperses the heat so you stay cooler at night. I too was looking for cool relief while sleeping on my HOT memory foam mattress. The gel mattress cover is not a 100% perfect fix, however, I have noticed a big improvement in having night sweats from the foam mattress.
