Source: Top 5 Mattresses 2017 - TyRankerYou need to find a mattress that keeps your body in its neutral alignment while not causing pressure on your body. That means trying it in the store on your back and on your side.On your back, check to make sure the mattress makes contact with the lumbar section of your back. You want it to contour, but not so much that you sag into it unevenly. On your side, you don't want to feel any pressure or discomfort on your hips, shoulders, or ribs. /matt... for you to read.Contrary to universal opinion among furniture experts, there actually is a simple method for ordinary consumers to compare mattresses and determine which is the best combination of comfort, quality and value for them. Before revealing this simple method of comparison I need to give a little background.Once upon a time (long ago) I was a mattress buyer for a major retail furniture chain. Over a 4 year period I purchased nearly $20 million of mattresses.Recently I spent nearly 100 hours researching hundreds of different mattresses to find the absolute best one possible for my personal use and within my budget.

This was nearly an impossible task. For many weeks I was convinced that my quest was completely hopeless — and that in the end I would just have to take a leap of faith and “settle” for something in my price range that sounded OK. There simply didn’t appear to be any common criteria on which to judge one mattress against another.I was not surprised to find that there were almost no points of comparison among different mattress brands; but I was very surprised to find that mattress manufacturers have also succeeded in making it virtually impossible to compare different products within their own brands.Despite this I finally discovered a simple but effective method of comparing mattresses that can be used even by novice mattress purchasers. There are 5 simple steps:Decide whether you have a preference between foam mattresses, innerspring mattresses or hybrid (springs and memory foam) mattresses.Decide whether you prefer a mattress that is soft, firm or somewhere in between.pare the weights of the mattresses that fit the first three steps.

The ones that weigh the most are the best mattresses. The best values are those mattresses that are heavier than the competition but cost less. After comparing literally hundreds of mattresses by coil counts, wire gauge, number of layers, foam specifications and dozens of other combinations of ingredients that were never exactly duplicated in any other model I began to ask myself why it was that mattresses that seemed to look almost identical had widely varying weights. In almost every case, the more the mattress weighed the higher the price being charged. This applied no matter what the original pre-discount “suggested retail price” had been. Heavier mattresses typically cost more at the actual selling price than the lighter ones. This was not easy information to come by. Most mattress specifications do not list weights. I usually had to contact the retailer or manufacturer to get that information for each of the many dozens of different models that I investigated.I was searching specifically for an innerspring or hybrid mattress that was 12″ - 14″ high and was the top line for a well known brand name.

I was looking for a queen size mattress with a cost of under $1000.Specifically I looked primarily at Sealy Posturepedic, Serta Perfect Sleeper and Simmons Beautyrest.Nearly all of the mattresses I researched in my price range weighed somewhere between 80 - 100 lbs. I then researched more expensive mattresses from those same brands selling for up to $2000.The mattresses priced from $1000 - $2000 were slightly heavier (100 -115 lbs.) I did not do as thorough a research job on these so it is possible that there were heavier models that I missed. However it confirmed my theory that more expensive mattresses do weigh more.So which mattress did I choose? I won’t say, except that it was not one of the three major brands I started off researching. My mattress choice was a 14″ high queen-size Luxury Firm (mid-firmness) coil spring mattress that weighs 120 lbs. The price was $899.I feel confident that I made the best possible choice.Purple Mattress is good because it is soft not like spring mattress.
