Snooze in style: Australia’s best luxury hotel beds There’s nothing quite like the fabulous feeling of laying down on a soft, luxurious bed at a five-star hotel. Travel blogger Rhiannon Taylor knows the feeling better than most, as she specialises in testing and reviewing hotel beds (we’re not jealous at all!) in her blog In Bed With. “I love a big bed that you can sink into, and hotel beds are special because they’re so fresh and crisp. It’s really hard to maintain that level of luxury at home, especially if you’ve got pets, kids or if you are using the same sheet set over and over again,” she tells us. Here, Rhiannon shares her pick of the comfiest luxury hotel beds in the country. If you snooze in these, you will positively ooze! The Darling at The Star, Sydney The beds at The Darling are one of my all-time favourites. The 400 thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets are silky, and there’s a pillow menu with 12 options – all topped onto a custom-made 1,000 spring mattress.
Also, the views from the suites are fabulous! Drift House, Port Fairy The king mattresses at Drift House are divine, and no wonder why – they are custom-made by AH Beard, Australia’s leading manufacturer of quality mattresses and bedding, The mattresses are a perfect balance of a firm base with a soft top layer – you will be sleeping on cloud nine! This brand-spanking new hotel in the heart of Bondi Beach offers some of the best beds I’ve ever slept in. There are no thin, flimsy pillows at QT Bondi Beach, each bed is laden with a great set of supportive pillows. A firm mattress and well-fitted sheets ensure you sleep solidly throughout the night. The loft at Crown Metropol is one of my favourite hotel rooms in Australia, and the beds are sublime. Equipped with plush doonas, these beds are the kind you’d want at home;
soft, inviting and luxe. The New Inchcolm Hotel, Brisbane The beds at The New Inchcolm are immediately inviting – from the padded headboard to the oodles of pillows. The linens are silky smooth and breathable, perfect for those hot Brisbane nights! If you’re staying in a loft room, you can wake up to floor-to-ceiling views from your bed by controlling curtains with a handy bedside button.
