In 1999 Queens, New York City City, young street lawbreakers Tommy "Buns" Brown (DMX) and Genuine (" Sin") (Nas), together with partners Mark and Black, murder five people during a violent club robbery. After celebrating with the gang, Genuine returns house to his sweetheart Tionne (Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins) and infant daughter Kenya.
