We hope you love the products we recommend! Just so you know, BuzzFeed may collect a small share of sales from the links on this page. Ikea is like that relationship you stay in for comfort and security until you meet The One. You convince yourself you can make it work, but then shit falls apart rapidly and you realize it just wasn’t worth it. Don’t let this be you anymore. It’s time to move on. If you love getting lost in Ikea’s baskets, home decor, blankets, and all things pretty, you’ll love H&M Home…and you’ll really love its prices. It has a ton of textiles (curtains, rugs, napkins, throws, etc.), along with baskets, candles, vases, and blankets. Pricing: Everything ranges from $2 to $130. If you like the way Ikea perfectly combines sleek, modern pieces with more traditional shapes and colors, you’ll love AllModern. hosts its modern furniture, decor, and kitchen items — so all products are discounted from their original price. Items are offered at pretty much every price point.

Pricing: Sofas start at $174, and decor ranges from $9 to $2,000. If you like Ikea’s more boho, textural offerings (think sheepskin rugs and woven chairs), you’ll love Urban’s “Apartment” section. Urban is definitely more boho-vintage inspired, but similar to Ikea, it carries some amazing pieces that will really open up your eyes to a whole new world of styling techniques. Urban offers everything from furniture to shelving, kitchen wares, rugs, textiles, and decor. Pricing: Furniture ranges from $40 to $2,200, and art/decor ranges from $4 to $600. Cost Plus World Market If you love Ikea’s reasonably priced rugs, colorful patters, and Swedish food section, you’ll love Cost Plus World Market. It carries a great selection of globally inspired and produced textiles, rugs, pillows, curtains, furniture, and pretty much any type of home wares you could want. It also has an amazing food product section! Pricing: Rugs range from $12 to $990, and full-sized sofas range from $299 to $2,600.

If you love Ikea for its wacky patterned decor, clever gadgets, and basic shelving, you’ll love Fab. It carries a ton of decor, lighting, kitchen gadgets, bedding, and pretty much everything home-related. Most of its stuff is fun and funky, but you’ll also find some basic furniture similar to Ikea’s. Pricing: Products for the home range from $11 to $590. If you are a fan of the interplay of textures, colors, layers and materials often seen in Ikea catalogs and showrooms, you’ll love this store. It’s a little bit pricier, but products stay true to the mix-and-match feel of Ikea’s home wares. You’ll find everything from lighting to wall decor to shelving and textiles. Pricing: Home decor ranges from $7 to $750, and furniture ranges from $116 to $3,797. Baskets: $30 to $38“> If you like Ikea’s minimalist aesthetic, sleek design, and basic storage solutions, you’ll love Japanese retailer Muji. This store is basically like if Uniqlo and Ikea had a baby.

It sells products for the home like furniture, bedding, shelving, baskets, and kitchen tools, but also makes basic clothing and travel goods. Pricing: Shelving ranges from $23 to $525, and baskets and small organizing items range from $2 to $60. Scandinavian Designs is a grown-up version of Ikea, which is perfect for anyone who invests in some of Ikea’s better-quality pieces. Its prices are higher, but it has some incredible sales that put its furniture at average Ikeas prices — with higher-quality construction. The three-seater couch above was originally $1,299 and is now half the price at $649 and comes in two shades of gray. Pricing: Decorative objects range from $9 to $200, and its living room clearance section ranges from $49 to $3,500. If you like Ikea’s more sophisticated pieces, CB2 is the place for you. It has a ton of gorgeous furniture, but the real gold of this store is in its home decor and organization. CB2 is Crate and Barrel’s sister store, so you can pretty much expect everything you need for your home but at a lower price (you can get a set of eight glasses for $14!).

Pricing: Furniture runs for $60 to $3,200, and all home decor/accessories run from $1 to $500. If you like Ikea’s boldly colored accent pieces and inventive patterned textiles, you’ll love Dot & Bo. It carries everything from furniture to decor to kitchen carts and utensils. You can shop by themes such as “bohemian minimalist” or “modern rustic retreat,” which is similar to Ikea’s room inspo. Pricing: Furniture ranges from $24 to $4,500, and decor ranges from $5 to $1,900. You may already know about Target’s great home wares, but less people know that Target actually has an amazing collection of furniture at solid prices. If you love Ikea’s huge selection of reasonably priced furniture, shelving, decor, and textiles, you should definitely consider ordering from Target. The store also frequently does series of home products with popular designers. Pricing: All seating, which includes dining and living room, runs from $12 to $2,400. Its newest capsule collection, Oh Joy, runs from $3 to $100.

If you like Ikea’s bedding, blankets, sheets and rugs, you’ll love Arro Home. It has some exceptionally colorful and cool textiles, as well as a ton of kids’ bedroom and kitchen stuff. It also carries some vases that are insanely gorgeous and pretty cheap. Pricing: Bedding ranges from $15 to $135, and living room pillows and accessories range from $8 to $95. IKEA is a majestic place, packed to the rafters with anything and everything you'll ever need to furnish your place. The problem is—since everyone knows that—our apartments all embarrassingly end up filled with the exact same EKTORPs and POÄNGs. To help ensure your place doesn't fall victim to such trouble, we've rounded up 12 brilliant and (mostly) simple ways to put a fresh and unique spin on your IKEA bedroom furniture. Materials Needed: KALLAX shelving unit, KOMPLEMENT clothes rail, DIODER LED light strips How It's Done: Rather than completely assemble the KALLAX, just put together the outer frame and a single row of cube shelves along the far left and bottom.

Fasten the clothes rail along the upper edge of the empty space, line the underside of the top with the DIODERs, and you'll be set up with a multi-functional open-air closet with space to stash your hanging wardrobe and shoe collection. Materials Needed: HEMNE 3-drawer chest, 2 adjustable curtain rods, thin metal rods How It's Done: Assemble the HEMNE as usual, then install adjustable curtain rods along the upper edge on either end of one of the drawers. Then cut and curl the edges of the thin metal rods to fit like hanging filing folders around the larger rods. After, organize your tees and tank tops as if they were hanging file folders. This way you'll be able to pull out just the one you want without fishing around and wrinkling everything else. Materials Needed: SORTERA recycling bins, LACK shelf How It's Done: Unfortunately the recycling bins pictured here are no longer produced, but you can create the same effect using SORTERA stackable bins. Stack the 10- and 16-gallon versions as high as you'd like, then top the whole spread with a wall-mounted LACK shelf to create a handsome and space-saving spot for socks, underwear, tee shirts, etc. [See more]

Materials Needed: KALLAX shelf and casters, 16 DIODER LED strips, 16 kitchen shelf organizers How It's Done: Assemble the KALLAX as you would normally, then affix the casters to the bottom. Install the DIODER strips along the top back edge of each cube (feeding the wires through the back through small drilled holes). The raised shelves pictured inside each cube here are no longer carried by IKEA, but many cabinet organizers from other retailers should work fine to showcase your kicks. Materials Needed: 6 MOLGER benches, wooden dowels How It's Done: Ditch the cheap-looking wire shelving in your closet for a more sophisticated system that involves stacking MOLGER benches atop each other. To keep them stable and strong, you'll need to bore holes into the feet and surface where they connect, and slip in appropriately sized dowels to secure them to one another. Materials Needed: RAMSÄTRA shelf, DIODER LEDs and fabric (optional) How It's Done: Rather than splurge on a pricey headboard, you can create one with built-in storage for alarm clocks, books, phone chargers, and the like, by mounting a media cabinet to the wall a few feet above the bed.

If you're feeling ambitious, go ahead and tack on a strip of LEDs underneath to create convenient reading lights, and drape a wide piece of thick fabric behind. Materials Needed: LÄMPLIG trivet How It's Done: Find a bare piece of wall inside—or just outside—your closet and mount the LÄMPLIG so that the bars run horizontally to create an instant tie rack. Materials Needed: KALLAX shelf leftovers, 4 furniture legs, 1 oak panel, 2 surface hinges, 1 magnet catch, a door knob How It's Done: If you're tackling hack #1 above, you'll have some extra unused KALLAX shelves laying around; don't let them go to waste. You'll want to cut all the boards to size to make a cube, using the finished edge when possible for the shown sides. Cut the oak panel to fit and hinge it to the cube as a door (complete with the knob and magnet catch). Then, attach your four legs and voila, your new bedside table looks like it was plucked straight off the set of Mad Men. Materials Needed: TARVA bed, salvaged weathered wood

How It's Done: First, assemble the TARVA bed normally. Next, cut and arrange the salvaged boards in an interesting manner that suits your style, making sure they stretch the width of the TARVA's headboard. When you're happy with the mocked up look, go ahead and screw each piece permanently into place atop the existing headboard and you've created yourself a sleeping setup that would have easily cost $1,000 more at West Elm. Materials needed: 8 STUVA shelf units, SULTAN LADDE slatted bed base How It's Done: Assemble the 8 STUVAs as you would normally, arranging three per side with one each at the head and foot. Fasten the slatted bed base to the surface to keep the whole setup in place and top it with your mattress. Materials Needed: 2 31.5-inch BILLY bookcases, 4 15.75-inch BILLY bookcases, murphy bed frame and mechanism, 8 casters, plywood How It's Done: This one's admittedly a little more complicated than the rest, but a huge help if you're regularly hosting guests in a tiny apartment.

First, you'll assemble all 6 BILLYs, attaching the two wider versions to one another at their sides with screws, and the four narrower ones back to back (such that their depth is doubled). Next, you'll attach a sheet of plywood to the back side of the now 73-inch double-BILLY, and install the murphy bed frame and mechanism. Finally, attach the casters to the underside of the murphy bed/BILLY section and bookend it with the narrow BILLYs on either side against your wall of choice. Once you're finish, you'll be ready to do this whenever overnight guests pop by. Materials Needed: IVAR shelf, closet rod, 3 rod supports, and storage baskets (optional) How It's Done: Assemble the IVAR two-part shelf as normal, situating the middle shelf towards the top third. Then, install a single rod support on each rear vertical beam just below the top shelf and hang the closet rod. And if you'd prefer your garb not be on display, feel free to add rows of baskets or buckets up top and down below to stash.
