During January-December 2016 the average room occupancy in Hotels was 70% with an estimated 2,015,300 rooms and 3,467,900 bed-spaces sold across all hotels. Hotels achieved record room occupancy for the month of December (61%). The Guesthouse, Bed & Breakfast and Guest Accommodation sector delivered a strong performance. This sector recorded a room occupancy of 35%, with an estimated 389,900 rooms and 683,700 bed-spaces sold during January-December 2016.
The Self-Catering sector annual unit occupancy for 2015 was 36%, an increase of 3 percentage points when compared with 2014. There were 32,800 weeks sold during 2015, an increase of 4%. I especially enjoyed the homemade scones (they were still warm…) and jam.
