In his role, Jim oversees all aspects of the Independence’s business operations. Jim has over 20 years of sports and entertainment marketing experience. Prior to founding the Independence, Jim founded the Charlotte Hounds of Major League Lacrosse. He also spent three years with the Charlotte Bobcats, where he served as Senior Vice President of Brand Marketing and was responsible for the team’s marketing and ticket sales. Jim has previously worked with Dale Earnhardt Inc, the Tampa Bay Rays, Pittsburgh Pirates, Minnesota Vikings and Houston Rockets. In addition, Jim was a partner in BRANDTHINK, one of the leading sports consulting agencies in the country, and served as a senior marketing executive with numerous major agencies, including DraftWorldwide and Digitas. Outside of the office, Jim is an avid tennis player and enjoys cold beer. He oversees all aspects of the team’s business operations and manages all of the team’s finances. Behrman most recently served as Executive VP & Chief Financial Officer for the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats and Memphis Grizzlies, where he oversaw all financial operations for both the teams and their arenas. He was instrumental in securing naming rights, television deals and salary cap management. Prior to his work with the Bobcats and Grizzlies, Behrman held positions with the Disney Company in Los Angeles and Orlando, Merrill Lynch Int’l based out of England and Japan, and Goldman Sachs in New York.




While at Disney, Behrman was part of the opening team of Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex (now branded ESPN). He was an integral part of growing Disney’s soccer business, including partnering with Major League Soccer to bring its 1998 All-Star Game to Orlando. In addition to his duties with the Independence, Behrman serves on the Executive Advisory Committee of the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business at the University of Rochester and mentors student-athletes in the Queens University of Charlotte Emerging Leaders program. He holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation (CFA) and is past Treasurer of the Board of Directors for the North Carolina CFA Society. In his spare time, Behrman coaches his son Daniel’s soccer team and is active in the Charlotte competitive swim community. He is responsible for leading and supervising revenue generation efforts, including sponsorship sales, ticket sales, merchandise, corporate partnerships and activation. In addition, Wade oversees team branding, marketing and fan engagement. Before delving into USL, Wade held various sales and marketing positions, including two seasons with the ECHL’s Fresno Falcons, a four-year run with Bobcats Sports & Entertainment and a stint with Revolution Racing, where he was responsible for revamping the NASCAR Drive for Diversity program. Outside of the office, Wade spends his time watching “Peppa Pig,” attending tea parties and playing with legos. Patrick joined the team in February 2015, and is responsible for ensuring that all of the fans have the best time possible. He wants to make sure everyone is not just satisfied but ecstatic about our games. Patrick is here to help bring fans out and keep them coming back with new friends, family members, and co-workers. 




He always wants to ensure that our fans are getting an experience tailor made to them and will not attempt to push someone to packages that don’t fit their wants or needs. Born in Greensboro, NC, Patrick has since lived in New Orleans, LA, Chattanooga, TN, Columbia, SC, and Blaine, MN. While he has moved around quite a bit, Patrick has always had a connection to the Carolinas. His mom grew up in Charlotte and his grandparents lived in Rock Hill. The opportunity to move to Charlotte and help build two great teams was an exciting opportunity that Patrick jumped to get on board with. Prior to joining the the Independence, Patrick worked with Major League Soccer’s National Sales Center, which helped prepare him for a role in a growing sport. That experience allowed him to see the unique ways that each team handles their organization and their fans. Patrick is excited to bring that knowledge to Charlotte as we push to build a great new soccer team. When not in the office, Patrick enjoys playing Ultimate Frisbee, watching any soccer that happens to be on TV, playing soccer, exploring Charlotte (he’s still new here), and sitting in his giant foof chair (which is basically a couch sized bean bag chair with foam instead of beans).

What actor would play you in a movie: Ashley Judd Favorite EPL Team: Arsenal Alysha joined the Independence in March 2016 as Ticket Operations & Accounting Manager. Her responsibilities include preparing the box office for game day by making sure all of the tickets are put into the system and that everyone is able to get their tickets and get into the game easily. She also assists in the organization of the team’s finances. Prior to accepting her new role in Charlotte, Alysha worked seasonally for the USL W-League’s Carolina Elite Cobras for three years as their Head of Media Operations & Social Media. She also previously worked for the Charleston Battery, overseeing their finances, game day operations, merchandising, food and beverage and Three Lions Pub.
