Bean bag chairs are comfortable ways to lounge around, and bean bag beds take this lounging to the limit. These comfortable pieces of furniture are ideal for people who often have guests stay overnight. Bean bag beds are comfortable to sleep on, but they store quickly and easily inside a closet when not in use. Learn how to craft your own bean bag bed in the color, size, and style of your choice using tools and supplies you find on eBay.

The amount of fabric you need for the bean bag bed depends on how large the final bed should be. Choose a soft, comfortable fabric as the base of the bed. The dimensions for most bean bag beds are about 3 feet by 8 feet. Use a tape measure to find enough fabric to cover this area. This size bed requires at least 32 feet of 3-foot wide fabric. Use scissors to cut the fabric into two perfect circles, each about 3 feet in diameter. Cut the fabric into three rectangle shapes measuring 8 feet long by 3 feet wide. Cut one final square piece that is 2 feet wide to cover the final section of the filled bean bag bed. Cut a 1-foot-long slit on one side of one of the rectangles. Start the slit about 1 foot before the end of the rectangle. Sew hook-and-loop fasteners onto both sides of the slit. Test that the hooks and loops stick together and that the hole is completely covered. Flip the fabric over, and sew the 2-foot piece of fabric onto the bottom of the fabric, with the middle section covering the slit.

Sew three sides of the fabric to the rectangle, leaving one side open. Attach more fasteners to this open side, and make sure they close fully. Use a sewing machine to attach the sides of the three rectangle pieces together along their long edges. Double sew the seams to make sure the bean bag bed stays together. Make sure the rectangular tube is turned inside out before sewing the two circles to each end of the tube. The final bean bag bed consists of one large tube with two closed ends. Buy a bag of 50 cubic feet of bean bag foam beads. Expanded polystyrene beads are an ideal fill for bean bag furniture. Stick the end of a clean vacuum cleaner into the bag of beans, and suck the beans out of the original bag. Put the vacuum tube inside the opening of the bean bag bed. Put the vacuum in reverse, then push the beads from the vacuum into the bed. When the bed is full, re-close the two openings. Choose eBay to find your own bean bag bed for guests and room decoration. Start by typing "bean bag bed" into the search box.
