Located on the lower level near the Star-Spangled Center, the Calming Corner is the perfect place for nursing mothers, children with special needs and other visitors who could use a soothing space away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the Museum. The Calming Corner is a private room equipped with a glider, a child-sized rocker and bean bag chairs. The space is designed to meet the needs of nursing mothers as well as children with developmental and physical challenges—especially those on the autism spectrum—who may need a respite during their visit. There are a multitude of quiet activities to soothe and engage children, including books, sensory games, toys and a calming six-foot bubble tube.
