We have way too many stuffed animals. Every time I talk about getting rid of some my kids go bonkers. So I needed a plan to deal with all of the stuffed animals we have. I got this amazing idea several months ago from my good friend who lives in wine country but grew up with me in Louisiana. I saw that she had two giant beanbags and they were stuffed with stuffed animals! Since then, I’ve been thinking about making bean bag covers after not finding any that I liked online, but let’s face it, I don’t have time. I was just looking at heavy weight fabric the other day, but I had my three year old twins with me. Needless to say, the shopping trip didn’t go well. The fabric I was looking at was 50% off of between $20 and $30 a yard. Pricy when you need 5 yards. I ran across these bean bags at Target and they were cute, the colors I had been looking for, and way less money than I would pay for the other fabric alone. There was a metal “lock” so the zipper wouldn’t come open and spill millions of little fillers all over your house.

I can understand why they put on the lock. I know three little girls who would have a field day with all the styrofoam inside. I certainly wouldn’t put it past them. This bean bag had a metal ring on it to ensure that the zipper would not open and spill tons of styrofoam pellets all over your house. I tried to cut the lock/metal jump ring off but that proved harder than I thought. Instead, we used two pairs of pliers to twist the jump ring open. We found the seam of the jump ring by turning it around until it reached the top. Then we twisted the ring, each side of the seam in a different direction. Then pulled  it out of the bean bag. (When I say “we,” I really mean my husband. We dumped the styrofoam pellets in large garbage bad VERY CAREFULLY! I closed the zipper part way to control the amount that came out. I taped the garbage bag to the bean bag in various places so that they couldn’t fall out if the bag slipped. I took a lot of precautions. That kind of huge spill would have almost been un-clean-up-able.

We would have been finding those pellets for decades. We put the fillers in a bag until I think of another project for them. Then all the stuffed animals went in and …No more stuffed animals all. One disastrous mess organized… 247 more to go…at least. and see our others! They’re durable and strong, so kids can climb and play on them. Mom and dad can cosy up and watch a movie. And everyone who comes over will have a place to sit, because oversized bean bags are big enough for lots of people to sit on! Now we here at Bean Bags King refer to them as “giant bean bag chairs” but you can refer to them as bean bag sofas too.

They’re anywhere from six to eight feet long and can comfortably fit three to four adults (or five or six kids). Cuddle up with your sweetie or have extra seating for any large gathering. Kids have a great time crawling all over them. These monsters give off an appearance of a relaxed, fun room. They go great in your den, your basement, your game room, or your children’s room. But you can also make them sophisticated enough to throw in a formal office or bedroom. Just ask Google and Apple! If you need an extra bed, an oversized bean bag chair can easily sleep two people. Comfortable and supportive, this is an experience your guest will appreciate! No more stiff necks from a night on a pull out sofa. Bean bag chairs, especially those that are full of memory foam, provide support for your back, neck, and head, and you are less disruptive to your partner. No metal bars, hard arm rests, or rickety springs to deal with – things any guest will appreciate! When you are trying to put together your kid’s room or a family room, you want furniture that is easy to maintain, comfortable, and roomy.

Yes, that suede sectional or leather barcaloungers has its place. But your kids are going to crawl all over that nice material or pull on arm rests and climb over the back. The cats are going to scratch and the dog is going to chew. Family and kids rooms are supposed to be a place for relaxing, so having high maintenance furniture just isn’t going to fly in this space. Besides, if you buy stiff couches or individual chairs, how can everyone cuddle up together and share a bowl of popcorn for a scary movie? But that’s not to say that bean bag chairs look sloppy – they give an impressions of a relaxed, inviting room. With the mature colour palate available, you can find the perfect accents to match your space. Plus, they’re easy to keep clean and fresh and look great if you are trying to sell your home. Oversized bean bag chairs are easier to maintain than sofas. There’s no pulling out cushions to vacuum the dust and crumbs that find their way in. You won’t lose any cell phones or change in the cracks.

If something spills or your bean bag chair gets dirty, it’s easy to pull off the cover and wash it – voila, just like new again. So if you find yourself in need of some new comfy seating, consider extra large bean bag chairs – perfect for all sorts of seating arrangements! Not Just For Kids: Adult Bean Bags Make A Comeback Adult bean bag chairs are the hottest thing in posh interior design these days. While the bean bag chair has been around for decades, it doesn’t have to look like a dated item in your home or office – in fact, the new bean bag designs can bring a contemporary elegance and minimalism to modern households. Because of the sheer comfort of a bean bag chair, they are booming in popularity, and the demand for style to catch up to cosiness has boomed. Nowadays, the bean bag chair has become sought after by adults to add some style to their décor! These are great for family rooms, living rooms, offices, bedrooms, and dens. New outer linings come in all sorts of grown up fabrics: this isn’t your kids’ vinyl bean bag chair.

We’re talking leather, suede, denim, and cotton to enhance comfort. A bean bag chair is like a classic Moroccan pouf, only more supportive. They offer back, hip, and arm support, which is better than trying to balance yourself on a backless, unsupportive surface. Using bright, modern colours, these bean bags add a functional pop to any room! Some bean bags even come with a bean bag footstool to add additional comfort to your recline. Throw them in the home theatre room for an optimal movie watching experience – not laying down, not sitting up, but in the most perfect position for watching movies and television. Most traditional bean bags are produced from polystyrene beads since they’re very lightweight, airy, and can resist compression. The completely new foam bean bag sofas are filled with the highest quality foam that’s equally as comfortable (if not more so). The foam bean bags offer some advantages – they will never “wilt” and can always be refreshed by simply picking them up and shaking them.

They are also silent, unlike traditional bean bag chairs which can make a swishing sound as you move around and adjust in them. The foam can be washed and dried as well, helping you maintain the quality. If you are thinking about adding furniture to any room, need more comfortable seating in your home or simply want to give your décor some added OOMPH! you can achieve it all with bean bag chairs. In different colours, shapes, sizes and materials, bean bags have something to suit every taste. From stylish and modern to unbelievable comfort, adult bean bag chairs have it all! Beanbag chairs, as we know them, are filled with expanded polystyrene ‘beans’, which are lightweight, comfortable, cheap and fairly easy to obtain. They look like pearls, about the size of peas. The beans are generally available in large bags of about 150 liters. Stores selling plastics goods and many larger department stores should stock polystyrene beans, or you could try locating them from plastics companies specialising in manufacturing polystyrene packaging or building panels. The beans are first ‘blown’ before being cooked and compressed into shapes. Polystyrene is a flammable product that should be kept well clear of open fireplaces, heaters and burners. We recommend that you attempt to locate flame-retardant polystyrene beans. Beanbags do require topping up from time to time, as the beans compress and dry out. Retro Beanbags have locking zippers in the base, which makes filling and emptying easier. If you wish to wash your beanbag cover, we recommend emptying the beans into a cardboard box or paper sack, as the static can cause them to stick to plastic bags.
