This is where it all happens: crowds of surfers, seas of umbrellas, beers and margaritas delivered on trays, hawkers selling all and sundry, restaurants, bars, and surf schools crowded together in the busy bazaar of town beach. On a full-size volleyball court, players have at it, while dozens of waveriders from beginner to expert master the swells. 1/5It’s all fun in the sun on Sayulita Beach 2/5A distant view shows the inviting main town beach 3/5Waterfront umbrellas and restaurant service 4/5Colorful and beautiful, Sayulita is a true paradise 5/5An improvised dining room on the sands The beach is lined with umbrellas, and they all come with restaurants attached. You rent a chair under an umbrella, and a waiter, menu and good food comes with it. Seafood, sandwiches, burgers, salads, pasta, Mexican food, American food, maybe something French. Anything and everything to drink. Vendors stroll the beach with lasagna, ice cream, potato chips, shrimp, fish, and oysters on the half shell, tamales, cookies, candy.

By the river, a stand sells cups of sliced fruit or vegetables, with or without hot sauce or lemon juice. They also offer coconut water. They will hack off the top of an ice cold coconut, stick a straw in it, and there you have it: coconut water, right from the source. casa mar y montana-good place to stay in Sayulita This is a very cozy little place with a beautiful yard. Everything you need for a comfortable stay while you are in Sayulita. The views are pretty awesome up on the hill, you can see the town, gringo hill and the ocean from the property. I really enjoyed sitting on the front porch watching the birds, especially the eagles soaring out of sight. Overall a sweet casa that is affordable and clean. Thanks to Hans and Suzanne for providing a good experience in Sayulita. My husband, 4 year old and I spent a whole month at Casa Mar y Montana. We could not have asked for a better spot. It is a few steps from town with stunning views of Sayulita. The property was extremely clean, very secure and had a lot of chill spots.

We felt like we were home the whole time we were there. The property manager, cleaning lady and owner were extremely friendly and helpful. As mentioned in other reviews yes there is a very steep hill to the house. We had fun with it, some days we went up and down just for an extra work out. Let me tell you our buns were a lot firmer when we left. I would not hesitate to book Casa Mar y Montana again and hopefully someday we will be able to make it back to Sayulita to do just that. If you are in any way still up in the air on this rental, just do it. You will not be disappointed. Beautiful rental in lovely townWe'd visited the town before for a shorter period of time and this time we stayed a month! The house and gardens are absolutely lovely and situated on a hill at the end of town near the bus stop. So, it's a few blocks walk to town, but easy - we did it at least twice a day with a three-year-old, who also walked the whole way (including back up the steep hill to the house!)

You could rent a golf cart if you'd rather not deal with the hill - our neighbors had one. One of the nicest factors for us was that the house was continually supplied with fresh drinking water. The housekeeper, in particular, but the gardener as well, were both very helpful in getting us water quickly a couple times when we either ran out or were on the verge of it. Something to keep in mind - neither of them speak very much english at all, which makes communicating needs and questions about the house challenging. My husband speaks enough Spanish that we worked through it, but I would have had trouble on my own. We loved the house and highly recommend it - especially at the off season rate, it was a great price. We've been to Sayulita in both Feb and June/July now. The temperature wasn't much higher in the summer, but the humidity made it feel so much hotter - like, dripping sweat hotter. On the up side, if you were worried about the town feeling dead during the summer - it is just as bustling as when we were there in the winter.

The beginning of July the schools let out in Mexico and the beaches were packed again then! That was actually a bit of a downside. We still had a great time. Other things to keep in mind - If you plan to utilize the outdoor sleeping area upstairs, ask for the mosquito netting - it gets pretty buggy at night. We also ran into a few scorpions upstairs and on the stairs to the upstairs - they hide in the fallen petals, so don't walk barefoot through there unless you keep it swept. There is no air conditioning, but beyond the ceiling fans in the bedrooms there is also a large extra fan in each bedroom. In our room we pointed the fan at the bed and made a sort of tent of the mosquito netting around the bed, with the fan on the inside of that - that way we had full force fan, but it didn't blow the mosquito netting off. No need to use the mosquito netting at all if you keep your window and door shut at night, but we sometimes wanted ours open when it was especially hot. We would recommend this house and would stay again!

Beautiful, quiet property with views of mountains & ocean! We stayed for a week and had such a great time! The property is pretty big with a BEAUTIFUL patio/garden area. We would make coffee every morning and just sit outside and watch all of the interesting birds & squirrels. Our favorite place was the upstairs open area where there is a little bed, table & hammock with a bookshelf. Most afternoons we were there, getting out of the sun, reading, eating papaya and looking at the ocean :) The town is great - we ate out most lunch/dinners and took a boat out to the Marietas. Casa Mar is just far enough away from town that you don't get a lot of noise, but close enough that walking is actually pleasant - there is a bit of a hill on the way back, but it was a nice little workout after dinner! The issues we had we the property were minor, just the usual quirks of coming to someone else's home and trying to figure it out on your own (like how to figure out the hot water, where the toilet paper is, stuff like that)!

There was plenty of water in the kitchen for drinking, and the rooms were cool and spacious (we never really saw mosquitos, so we didn't use the net!). The property manager responded very quickly to my emails to bring us water & things, and we only saw the gardener once. I'd say if you like privacy and can manage a bit on your own, this is perfect! We will DEFINITELY be coming back to stay!! Thank you so much! We loved our stay in Sayulita at Casa mar y montana. It was exactly what we expected. The kitchen had everything we needed and we were even surprised to have someone come and empty garbages, clean bathrooms and change sheets and towels every couple days. The hill up the driveway is very steep as mentioned in other reviews, but never seemed to bother us at all. Overall, great stay and great value. The property was beautiful, proximity to the middle of town was good and the owners responded to emails very quickly. We rented one room at the house and ended up sharing the property with a lovely couple who we enjoyed spending our week with.

Upon arrival we noticed a few things in our room that needed to be taken care of - ceiling fans were broken so they had been replaced with floor ones that blow the bug net onto you all night - No top sheet on the bed only a duvet, and it is extremely hot as well as the beds being very uncomfortable, we ended up putting the duvet under the sheet to provide some extra padding - There was no toilet paper in our room and the shower did not seem like it had been cleaned We then had no water for 2 days of our stay and they did provide additional bottled watered and these things happen, no ones fault. When we went to leave we noticed things missing from our room, we had locked all the doors and windows everytime we left the property and still had items stolen: My husbands shoes with orthotics, my sunglass and an envelope of canadian money which I forgot to put in the safe. Despite these things we had a good week, although not very relaxing. We would like to thank the owners for having us stay in their home, but we will not be returning.
