We are not staying on the beach in Navarre. Is there a place where there are lounge chairs and big umbrellas already set up for rent (like they have on Pensacola Beach)? Would we have access to beaches in front of the hotels? We're just wanting someplace that is not at the end of the causeway and not near the pier. There are no hotels on Navarre Beach. Beach service is available in front of the condos, you could ask the attendant if you can rent one (??) or it might be cheaper to buy an umbrella/chairs so you can sit where you want for as long as you want - this is what we do if beach service isn't included in our rental. There's many public beach areas including the wonderful Opal Beach area (toward Pensacola) where there's no development, sometimes no people. I am not a big fan of the rental companies. They think they own the beach and take up all of the available front row seating whether or not anyone is renting the chairs. Please don't patonize them unless absolutely necessary. If you set up your personal chair & are not right next to the water they will set up in front of you. Just got back from my two week stay. In all fairness to the condo crowd, which I've been part of for many years, I spend $18-25 dollars a day for my beach service and I don't want an obstructed view of the Gulf for my money. Fortunately, the places I stay in Navarre (Regency and Towers) have never been terribly crowded. I've been to some places in FWB where two rows of beach service have had to be set up. At any rate, I've always done business with Sunset Beach Service and Ed and his folks on the beach have always been, by my observation, polite and respectful to everyone out there whether they're renting from him or not. Furthermore, I've never observed any of his folks move anyone else's personal gear.
Now, if you're talking about setting up your personal gear and having a front-row seat, you do have to get out there early because that's the beach service's job, to get out there early and have everything set up in time for their renters as well as new customers.
