Addtionally, King Kamehameha rebuilt the Ahu’ena Heiau at this location, a temple dedicated to Lono who was the Hawaiian God of peace, agriculture and prosperity.

Does anyone know where we can rent some beach chairs?

hi, there was just this exact topic on the Kailua-Kona forum, so I'll link it for you. funny because we have a debate on how common this question is on the Big Island, and then we get another one right off. However, doing a search in this forum, almost all the replies were from Maui and Oahu forums. The Big Island is not a beach chair sort of place except for if you stay in a resort, and there aren't any rentals I know of. They can't do rental concessions on the beach, and a lot of beaches are a bit of a trek to drag a heavy chair. The lightweight ones can be purchased, most people get the low-slung ones. I just take a mat or a towel, and I always sit in the shade. But do read the topic. 3 destinations mentioned in this post -:- Message from TripAdvisor staff -:-This topic has been closed to new posts due to inactivity. If so, what are the prices? 2 destinations mentioned in this post I don't know of one; that doesn't mean there isn't one ... if you go to Walmart or Kmart you can buy the ones easy to carry. If you are thinking go to beach through public access and set up regular chaise lounge chairs and big umbrellas, people don't really do that here.

You have to walk into beach access and it would be cumbersome. I just accept the fact that if you want a real lounger on the good beaches you need to stay at the big hotels. Honestly they aren't necessary to enjoy the beach. For the small chairs and umbrellas, I think you could buy a set at Walmart for about the same as rental costs. What beaches do you plan to take these to? A few years ago we bought a couple chairs at Safeway that they had on sale. We figured by the time we rented them (if we could find them) that buying them would actually be cheaper. When we go next month I'm going to check out Costco first. If I don't find anything there I'll try Walmart. We were staying at a condo so we just left them for the next visitors. (or maybe the maid? lol) There are no hotels that rent out chairs to to non-guests. Cabanas at Mauni Lani, Four Seasons, Hilton etc do have extra charges for guests however. The Hilton has its $80 per day pass that includes use of its chairs and pools but not cabanas.....check with your hotel.

Wal Mart , Longs, and Kmart are the best places to buy.... Mauna Lani does not charge guests for use of the canopy chairs. I actually found out that Snorkel Bob's rents out chairs and umbrellas but I will probably check Wal-Mart to see if its cheaper to just buy than rent.Hand carved Koa wood Wheelchair accessible condo choices in Mauna Lani and WBR Car rental rates in March/April...
