We are both from S Florida and will be building in Delray and are thrilled to be 15-20 minutes away from the beach again. Much closer than plane trips! Are there any places on the beach to rent lounge chairs and umbrellas? I would be looking for regular lounge chairs and not the ones that rest on the sand. Or do any of the hotels allow you to pay a fee for a rental at their property? I know there are vendors in FLL and Miami. If not I guess we can bring our own.

Looking forward to leaving the snow and having our beach life back. One destination mentioned in this postDelray is such a great place to live! You can rent beach loungers and umbrellas across from Boston's on A1A just south of Atlantic Avenue. (They also do seasonal deals). I'm not sure what you mean by chairs that sit in the sand but these are loungers are wooden and have legs. Send me an email me if you have any other questions. One attraction mentioned in this post Ranked of 61 things to do in Delray BeachI meant the chairs you find in the Eastern Shore which we only went to once as I am married to a Florida boy and the water was too cold! The seat is right above the sand(or in the sand) and if you have bad knees you can forget getting in and out of them. If the place you are referring to has regular lounge chairs that is terrific!!! I am so excited about our life transition. On our way this week to finalize building plans...and hope we don't get rained out!

I used to live across the beach in NMB years ago and would love to walk on the beach and have coffee in the morning. Delray is a new neighborhood for me. You have been very helpful...and if they have seasonal chair rentals that would be terrific. I assume there is still meter parking along the beach near this area. If you are going to be at the beach alot then buy your own chair. It is a waste of money to fork out the exorbitant charge the city imposes when you rent.I go to Delray every winter and stay at the Marriott. If I had a car I would try to find a place where I could purchase a chaise lounge. The usually cost $25 to 30.Carry several beach blankets and maybe a pillow and you will be set, instead of paying a daily renters fee which quickly adds up to more tan the cost if you had bought your own, How much do they charge per day for two beach chairs and an umbrella near the Marriott? Right now the access entrance right in front of the Marriotti blocked due to dregging.

If you go down two blocks south, you will find the access to the beach where the chairs are rented. Two lounging chairs are a wooden sofa with a covering, with blue mats, and cost $10 per hour or $30 for the day. Do you know when the dredging in front of the Marriott will be completed? If you buy the chairs for the season, wait until summer they will give you $50 off the season pass. It looked like they had just started so it could take a while with the dregging, plus the waters are a bit rough and choppy this past week with 4 to 5 foot swells. No sharks, however, as reported north of here. Edited: 7:42 pm, March 07, 2013 -:- Message from TripAdvisor staff -:-This topic has been closed to new posts due to inactivity.
