We offer half day, daily and weekly rentals. Florida Family Resorts and Hotels > Clearwater Family Resorts and Hotels > Marriott Suites Clearwater Beach on Sand Key Activities Marriott Suites Clearwater Beach on Sand Key Family Activities Families spend most of their time at the hotel, splashing in the big free-form lagoon pool that's heated to 85 degrees in the cooler months and kept otherwise balmy by the Florida sun outside of that period. The pool's highlight is multiple cascading waterfalls and rock formations that kids have a blast frolicking beneath. The main pool is surrounded by comfortable, blue lounge chairs and plenty of umbrellas for shade. You can also consider renting one of the roomy cabanas for the day. Just next to the main pool is a smaller pool for kids and a hot tub that can get quite crowded during the peak season. Kids who aren't potty trained are required to wear swim diapers, and if you forgot them, they're available for purchase in a shop next to the lobby.

One of the biggest delights for families here (parents, rejoice!) is Lisa's Klubhouse, a kids camp based in a room full of arts and crafts and toys; it's open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. for kids ages 5 to 12. There's a tiny playground with a slide and swings near the clubhouse, too. Daily activities might include tye-dying tee shirts, making ceramics, scavenger hunts and pool games. The cost is $5 per child, per hour. It makes for a great way to get a break from the kids and let them enjoy their own supervised playtime for a few hours during the day. And the club also sometimes organizes nighttime events, in particular during the high season of late-February through April. If you want to explore the bay in the hotel's backyard, the Marriott's dock is a launching point for jetski rentals, though you don't have ocean access from here. And you can't visit Clearwater without spending time at one of the area's beautiful beaches. Sand Key Park, right across the street from the hotel, is the closest and best area beach.

It's just a five-minute walk from the hotel, but the Marriott also offers a free golf cart service to bring you to the beach, too, if you can't manage the walk with the kids and all the accessories you need to bring with you. A kiosk on the beach that's not affiliated with the nearby hotels operates from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and rents out two beach chairs in private cabanas for $16.05 for a half-day or $26.75 for a full day. The kiosk also rents out jet skis for $69.55 for a half-hour or $117.70 for a full hour, and banana boat rides are also available. If you take the Marriott's golf cart shuttle down to the beach, it's worth asking the driver if there are any chairs or umbrellas left behind from past guests -- if there are, he or she will be happy to round them up for you to use as loaners for the day. Sand Key Park also has a good playground for kids, plus picnic shelters and grills, and a wetlands area where you can stroll to spot birds, such as herons and roseate spoonbills.

Of course, there are many more miles of beach waiting across the causeway in downtown Clearwater Beach, too, which you can access right from the hotel's doorstep via the Jolley Trolley, the town's public transport system that stops in front of the hotel every half hour from morning to night and costs $4.50 for an all day pass or $2 per trip. The trolley is free for kids under 5. When it's time for some quiet time back in your suite and a book won't do the trick for the kids, you can always resort to renting a video game console from reception to keep them entertained. DVD players, however, are not available in the rooms or for rent, so be sure to bring your own if your kids will miss it. Despite being on the water, Tampa only has two proper beaches, both along the bay. Nearby Clearwater's beaches front the Gulf of Mexico on barrier islands connected to the city by a series of bridges. The majority of the beaches in the Tampa Bay area are in Clearwater and adjacent cities, including St. Petersburg, a short drive from Tampa. Ben T. Davis Beach Located off of the Courtney Campbell Causeway near Tampa International Airport, Ben T. Davis beach is a narrow swath of sandy shoreline maintained by the city of Tampa Department of Parks and Recreation. The beach offers concessions, picnic shelters, metered parking and restroom facilities. Lifeguards are on duty from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Davis Islands Beach Located on Davis Islands in South Tampa, Davis Islands Beach is a small beachfront area with amenities including a boat ramp, canoe launches, picnic facilities and restrooms. An adjacent dog park also includes a dog beach, one of the few places in the area where dogs are allowed on the beach.

Clearwater Beach On the Gulf of Mexico, Clearwater's barrier islands offer white sand beaches 22 miles from Tampa. The area known as Clearwater Beach encompasses three miles of beachfront and includes Pier 60, with shops, restaurants and a fishing pier, and Beachwalk, a landscaped trail along the south portion of the beach with a bike trail. Metered parking is available in various places along the beach and lifeguards patrol daily. Beachgoers have access to cabana and chair rentals, sand volleyball courts, restrooms, concessions and beach showers. Sand Key Beach South of Clearwater, Sand Key Park, operated by the Pinellas County Parks Department, offers 96 acres of parkland and beaches on Sand Key, a barrier island considered part of Clearwater on the Gulf of Mexico. Beach amenities include cabana, umbrella and chair rentals; and lifeguards on duty from March through September. The park also offers playground facilities, picnic shelters and an off-beach dog park. A boardwalk and nature trail allow visitors to observe area wildlife.
