Hi- We are staying at the Sandcastle Condo which doesn't provide beach chairs or umbrellas--are there rental companies close by or should we just buy a couple when we get down there? My boyfriend and I have used a rental agency at a different Florida beach that provided a daily service of setting up and removing beach chairs and a very large umbrella from the beach in front of our rental property during the entire week of our stay. These were the wide and very sturdy "chaise lounge"-type chairs with thick padded cushions.
Made of PVC, the lower two-thirds of the chairs were fixed in the "flat" position, while only the upper third was adjustable--from flat to an almost upright angle. Boy, was it worth it! No hassles with dragging sandy stuff back and forth from the condo and no flimsy collapsible lawn chairs or tiny umbrellas that you have to keep repositioning endlessly, in order to keep two people within a tiny patch of shade. Plus, they had a kind of device mounted on a portable electric drill that really burrowed the umbrella shaft deep into the sand--none of that business where you end up chasing the blasted thing down the beach, when the wind picks up! If anybody has information on such a service on AMI, I would be MOST interested! I would be MOST interested in that service!! That type of beach chair and umbrella is what I was hoping for. Please let me know if you find something :) Bumping this up, in hopes that somebody local may have some guidance for us on this. Tip of the day: if it turns out that no one's offering this type of beach chair rental (with the padded chaise lounges and set-up/take-down service) that could turn out to be a profitable business for some enterprising soul.
I would SO be willing to pay the extra bucks for the privilege of super-comfy chairs along with a huge umbrella providing lots of shade--without the hassle of dragging them back and forth from the beach each day! We just returned from Bradenton Beach(also stayed at the Sandcastle) and contacted Funandmore. They may not have the cushy chairs but they do have GREAT service!! Plus they are great to deal with! We got two chairs and an umbrella. From the time I called, they were delivered to our door within 45 minutes. They also picked them up for us after our departure on Saturday so we didn't have to hassle with getting them back ourselves. I can highly recommend FunandMore! Have a great trip!
